Program of Medical Education (PSPD), Mataram University, was established based on the Director Generalof Higher Education Decree No. 1236 / D / T / 2003 on June 18, 2003. It has been implementing Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Tertiary Education) activities since the academic year 2003/2004. The implementation of the learning process in the PSPD has been conducted well. For the implementation of academic educational programs, PSPD collaborates with the Faculty of Medicine Udayana University (FK-UNUD) in the learning process of preclinical and para-clinical subjects, and also with Mataram Regional Public Hospital / West Nusa Tenggara Province Health Department in the learning process of clinical subjects. Underthe Rector of Mataram University Decree No. 10 146 / H18 / HK / 2007 on 25 August 2007, Program of Medical Education (PSPD) was changed to the Faculty of Medicine, Mataram University. Until the academic year 2011/2012 the Faculty of Medicine, Mataram University, has sucessfully graduated 101 doctors.
To be aleading educational institution that has an active role in the development of medicalscience and technology and also as the information and research center in solving health problems in Eastern Region of Indonesia by 2025.
To realize the vision, the Faculty of Medicine, Mataram University, has the following missions which are:
- Organizing and developing high qualified academic and medical profession educational system.
- Developing research and community service in a sustainable manner, to produce, develop, and utilize medical science and technology for the community.
- Developing a management system of medical education institutions which is efficient and effective.
- Maintaining and developing network of partnership with leading medical institutions.
- Organizing the archipelago-based health management.
Educational objective of the Faculty of Medicine, Mataram University, is preparing graduateswho have knowledge, skills, attitude and ethics that is high so that they can work professionally in the first stratum Individual Health Care (IHC) and the first stratum Public Health Care (PHC).
Students of the Faculty of Medicine, Mataram University, are educated to achieve the appropriate areas of competence required by Standard Competence of Indonesian Doctor. Areas of the competence consist of (1) Effective Communication, (2) Clinical Skills, (3) Scientific Foundation of Medicine, (4) Management of Health Problem, (5) Information Management, (6) Self-awareness and Self-development, and (7) Ethics, Morality, Medico legal, Professionalism and Patient Safety.
A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram, is able to explore and exchange information verbally and non-verbally with patients of all ages, members of families, communities, colleagues and other professions.
A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram, is able to perform clinical procedures in accordance problems, needs of the patient and the appropriate authority.

Ethics, Moral, Medicolegal, Professionalism and Patient Safety
A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram, is able to behave professionally in the practice of medicine and health policy support, moral and ethical as well as understand the issues of ethics and medicolegal aspects in medical practice, and implement a patient safety program.
