Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., officially launched the Prof. Morisco Room, a meeting room dedicated to the memory of Prof. Morisco, a figure who played an important role in the improvement of the Faculty of Engineering. This room is a form of respect to him as the first dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who has devoted himself to building and advancing this faculty.
In this inauguration, Prof. Morisco’s extended family, including his wife, children, son-in-law, and grandchildren, were present. In addition, students who had been taught directly by Prof. Morisco were also present. The event began with remarks from the Rector of Unram, who in his speech expressed his appreciation for Prof. Morisco’s services.
Prof. Bambang stated, “Dedicating this room to the late Prof. Morisco is a form of respect for his dedication and great contribution to the Faculty of Engineering. As humans, we should try to leave a good legacy, because that is what will be remembered by others.”
In addition to the launching by the Rector, the event was also a moment of reflection on Prof. Morisco’s services. Prof. Yusron Saadi, ST, M.Sc.(Eng), Ph.D., the 6th dean of the Faculty of Engineering, shared his story about Prof. Morisco’s great influence on his academic journey. Prof. Morisco was the one who helped Prof. Yusron in preparing for his study abroad, even providing recommendations for him to continue his education abroad.
Prof. Morisco’s wife also conveyed her memories of the deceased’s struggle as a lecturer at Unram. She recalled how every month Prof. Morisco returned to Yogyakarta to meet his family. On this occasion, she expressed her gratitude for the honor given by Unram to the Prof. Morisco.
“I am deeply surprised and grateful for this honor. This magnificent room is a form of extraordinary honor for him. I hope that one day there will be our children or grandchildren who can follow in the footsteps of Prof. Morisco in serving the University of Mataram,” she said.
In closing, the event continued with the handover of Prof. Morisco’s painting to his extended family, as a symbol of respect and memory for his services. This event is proof that the legacy of an academic is not only carved in physical spaces, but also in the hearts and memories of those who have felt its impact.
