With Cum Laude Ambitions, Four Friends Begin Their Academic Journey Through PKKMB

Mataram, University of Mataram – Four newly admitted students at the University of Mataram (Unram), who have been friends since elementary school, are now ready to begin their academic journey with a clear goal to become high-achieving students and future cum laude graduates. They are Najib Ismayadi, Muhamad Rizky Surya Maulana, and Satrio Bayu Nugroho from the Management Study Program, and Surya Ahmadi from the Forestry Study Program.
The four participated in the preparatory session for the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB), held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Unram Rectorate Field. This activity served as a warm-up ahead of the main PKKMB event, which will take place from August 4–6, 2025, at the M. Yusuf Abu Bakar Auditorium Building.
“I’ve prepared everything—both the required supplies and mentally as well. I hope PKKMB goes smoothly and is fun, though I’m not too thrilled about having to shave my head,” Najib said with a laugh. He explained that at the Faculty of Economics and Business, new students are required to cut their hair down to 2 cm.
Rizky, who is also in the Management Study Program, expressed his hope that the event would be enjoyable and mark a positive start to his university life. Similarly, Satrio shared his expectations for a lively and memorable experience. “I hope everything runs smoothly and is even more exciting than last year, and that no unfortunate incidents like illness or fainting occur,” he said.
Meanwhile, Surya Ahmadi from the Forestry Study Program expressed his enthusiasm ahead of the event. “Awesome! I’m excited and really looking forward to it. Tomorrow, I’ll bring yellow rice, coffee, and some money. I hope it will be fun and memorable,” he said with excitement.
Although enrolled in different study programs, the four friends share a common goal since being admitted to the University of Mataram, to excel academically and graduate with cum laude honors.
“God willing, we’re ready to become high-achieving students and graduate cum laude. We are determined to make the most of our university journey,” they said with confidence.
This year’s PKKMB at the University of Mataram will welcome thousands of new students from the SNBP, SNBT, and Mandiri admissions pathways. Over three days, students will be introduced to campus life while also receiving orientation on national values, academic expectations, and student ethics.
