A total of 88 new doctors took their oaths, consisting of 34 men and 54 women, with 93.8 percent graduating on time. The academic achievements of these graduates deserve recognition, with 21 earning cum laude, 37 graduating with very satisfactory marks, and 30 with satisfactory marks. These accomplishments reflect the quality of education and the strong learning spirit of FKIK Unram graduates.
Since the establishment of FKIK Unram’s Medical Education Program in 2003 and the first oath-taking ceremony in 2009, with 1,038 doctors graduated, FKIK Unram continues to play a key role in addressing Indonesia’s healthcare needs.
On behalf of the Rector of the University of Mataram, Vice Rector for Finance and General Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sukardi, M.Pd., expressed pride in the graduates’ achievements and extended heartfelt appreciation to the parents and the entire academic community.
“The medical profession is a calling of humanity. Uphold the oath and pledge you have made today. Practice professional ethics, maintain integrity, and keep learning to give your best to society. I also extend my gratitude to all the lecturers, partner hospitals, and parents who have entrusted their children to us,” he stated.
Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun, SpKF., M.Si.Med., in his remarks, emphasized the importance of synergy and collaboration in supporting the national healthcare system. dr. Arfi also praised the government’s policy—through the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to expand access to medical education by increasing student intake, opening new medical faculties, and easing regulations on medical education.
“Our graduates are ready to be placed in island regions and remote areas, in line with our identity as a medical faculty for the archipelago. We believe that with accountable student selection and the quality education system we have, our graduates are well-equipped to help address the challenges of healthcare workforce distribution in Indonesia,” he asserted.
Appreciation also came from the Director of NTB Regional Hospital, Dr. H. Lalu Herman Mahaputra, M.Kes., MH., who referred to FKIK Unram graduates as strategic assets in strengthening healthcare services in the region.
“This is only the beginning of your long journey as doctors. We extend our highest appreciation to FKIK Unram for producing high-quality graduates. However, the work is far from over. We need support from all stakeholders in NTB Province, including regency and city governments, to help address the unmet demand for doctors,” he stated.
He also reminded the newly sworn-in doctors to uphold the professional code of ethics, honor their alma mater, and never forget their roots.
Through this oath-taking ceremony, FKIK Unram once again demonstrated its commitment to shaping young doctors who are not only academically excellent but also possess integrity, empathy, and a readiness to serve in remote areas. This moment marks not the end of their academic journey, but the beginning of a long path of service dedicated to improving public health across Indonesia.
