Unram Holds Eid al-Adha 1446 H Prayer Ceremony

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) organized the Eid al-Adha 1446 H prayer on Friday morning (6/6/2025) at the Rectorate Field. This activity was attended by the Unram academic community and the community around the campus who also filled the field area since 06.30 local time.

Acting as the preacher in the Eid al-Adha prayer this time was Dr. TGH. Busaini, M.Si., while the imam of the prayer was led by Ustadz Abdul Wahab, S.Pd.I.

Unram Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., attended this activity and delivered a speech before the prayer began. In his speech, the Rector invited all attendants to reflect on the meaning of sacrifice and devoutness contained in the Eid al-Adha prayer.

“Sacrifice is a means to get closer to Allah SWT. It is a form of gratitude for the blessings of sustenance that we receive, as a way of atoning for sins, purifying the soul and wealth, as well as strengthening brotherhood and social solidarity,” he said.

He also emphasized that the sacrificial service is not only spiritual, but also has an impact on the economic empowerment of the community, especially local farmers.

“The increase in demand for livestock during Eid al-Adha also boosts the economy of our local farmers. This is the social and economic wisdom of Eid al-Adha,” he added.

Moreover, the Rector invited the attendees to emulate the spirit of sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS, and continuously revive the values of social care and solidarity, not only during Eid al-Adha but in daily life.

“Sharing and sacrificing should not wait until we are rich. If we are unable to use our wealth, we can sacrifice our energy and thoughts for the common good,” he said.

In addition, in his sermon, Dr. Busaini raised the theme of the example of Prophet Ibrahim AS in obedience and sacrifice. He reminded the audience to stay away from arrogance and always be grateful for the blessings of Allah SWT. He also emphasized that the spirit of sacrifice is not just about sacrificing animals, but also the readiness of the heart to prioritize Allah’s commands over everything we love.

“Whatever our ‘Ismail’ is, whatever we love, sacrifice it when Allah wills,” he said in his sermon. He also invited the entire Unram community to emulate the spirit of sacrifice for the benefit of the people, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim AS.

After the prayer, the Unram Qurban Committee carried out the slaughter of sacrificial animals, consisting of 27 goats and 27 cows.

The Eid al-Adha prayer at Unram is an annual event that not only strengthens the bond between the university community and the surrounding society, but also reinforces the religious and social values that are an integral part of academic life.
