Unram Represents Indonesia, Plays Key Role in Global Seaweed Industry

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) has once again made its mark on the international stage. Eka Sunarwidhi Prasedya, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., a researcher from Unram, represented Indonesia as a delegate at the prestigious China–ASEAN Seaweed Corporation Forum & Chairman Level Symposium of Seaweed Associations, held on July 12–14, 2025, in Guangzhou, China.

Eka’s presence not only represented his academic institution but also carried the name of Indonesia in a strategic forum that brought together key stakeholders from ASEAN countries and China. The event gathered academics, industry players, and policymakers engaged in the seaweed sector.

The forum and symposium aimed to strengthen regional collaboration in developing the seaweed industry, expand corporate networking, and promote knowledge and technology transfer among member countries. On the other hand, the Chairman Level Symposium served as a platform to align visions and strategies in addressing global challenges and opportunities in the sector.

“I hope this participation can contribute positively to the advancement of research and international collaboration at the University of Mataram in the future,” said Eka.

This participation marks an important step in encouraging Unram to take an active role in global scientific and collaborative forums, particularly on strategic issues such as the sustainable development of the seaweed industry.
