Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Animal Science (Faterna) at the University of Mataram (Unram) conducted an accreditation assessment for its Bachelor of Animal Science Program on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Faculty Auditorium, Building A.

The assessment was conducted by two assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), Prof. Dr. Ir. Trinil Susilawati, M.S., IPU., ASEAN Eng. from Brawijaya University and Prof. Dr. Ismayawati, S.Pt., M.P., IPU., ASEAN Eng. from Jenderal Soedirman University.

In his remarks, Unram Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., stated that the university once had three pioneering study programs to achieve Unggul (Excellent) accreditation status, with the Animal Science Program being one of them.

Addressing the visiting assessors, Prof. Bambang outlined four acceleration programs currently being implemented at Unram: the acceleration of excellent accreditation, the enhancement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU) achievements, the transformation toward becoming a State University with Legal Entity (PTN-BH) status, and the strengthening of initiatives to position Unram as a World Class University.

“Unram currently has 31 study programs with excellent accreditation and 3 programs with international accreditation. We will certainly continue to encourage other programs to pursue international accreditation as well. Our hope is that this program can maintain its excellent status,” he stated.

In addition, Unram’s 10th Rector urged the entire academic community of Faterna to keep innovating by developing research that harnesses the natural resources and human potential of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“We have met with the Regent of Sumbawa and agreed to develop the deer population. As a symbol of NTB, the deer will be restored. Therefore, we kindly ask everyone here to work together in developing the deer, as this can also serve as an income-generating opportunity for the community,” he said.

The Rector also expressed his hope that the assessment team would provide input and recommendations for improving Unram’s Bachelor of Animal Science Program. Meanwhile, Prof. Trinil Susilawati, one of the assessors, stated that her visit aimed to guide the program toward further growth and to help it achieve higher quality standards.

“Our presence here is meant to nurture, not to destroy, and we hope that this assessment process will be pleasant rather than stressful,” she said.
