Mataram, University of Mataram<\/strong> \u2014 The University of Mataram (Unram) held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day at the Unram Rectorate courtyard on Saturday, May 2, 2026. This year\u2019s commemoration carried the theme, \u201cStrengthening Collective Participation to Realize Quality Education for All,\u201d and was attended by the university\u2019s academic community.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, the speech of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia was delivered by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Dr. Sukardi, M.Pd., who served as the ceremony inspector. In his address, he emphasized that educating the nation is a fundamental responsibility of the state.<\/p>\n

“Quality, equitable, inclusive, and liberating education is not an option, but a national obligation,” he affirmed.<\/p>\n

Amid various global challenges such as digital disruption, climate crisis, social inequality, and changes in the world of work driven by artificial intelligence, education remains the most fundamental and strategic solution for national progress.<\/p>\n

“We firmly believe that education remains the most fundamental, strategic, and civilized answer,” he continued.<\/p>\n

In the speech, the Rector also conveyed that educational transformation is built upon three main pillars: expanding inclusive access, fostering collaboration that generates solutions, and advancing research with tangible impact. Higher education institutions are expected to continue serving as centers of innovation and scientific development capable of addressing the nation\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the government envisions Indonesia not only as a consumer of knowledge but also as a creator of it. Through the Indonesia Road to Nobel Laureate 2045 program, the government aims to cultivate outstanding talent and establish a world-class research ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The ceremony also included the signing of the integrity zone declaration and the university integrity pact, conducted between the Rector and the Deans, Directors, and Chair of the Unram Senate.<\/p>\n
