Ministry of Health holds Patient Safety Campaign and Advocacy in Unram

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Ministry of Health held a Campaign and Advocacy for Patient Safety in Health Service Facilities, Health Organizations, Education Associations and the Community through media forums and information media located at the Dome building of Mataram University on Monday (3/18) 2024.

In this event also attended the Director of Health Service Quality: dr. Yanti Herman, SH MH.Kes; Chairman of the National Committee for Patient Safety: dr. Bambang Tutuko, Sp.An(KIC); Secretary of the Quality Committee of Unram Hospital: dr. Erly Tibyan Wahyuly and Head of the NTB Provincial Health Office, dr. H. Lalu Hamzi Fikri, MM, MARS. This event was opened directly by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems Unram, Prof. Akmaluddin, ST., M.Sc.(Eng)., Ph.D who represented the Rector of Unram.

In his remarks, Director of Health Service Quality, dr. Yanti Herman, SH. MH. KES, said that health service facilities and proper public facilities, in this case, the central and local governments are fully responsible for access and quality of health services.
“Quality and access is a phrase that cannot be released, once access to health services is opened, of course quality becomes an inherent part. In other words, this quality is not a separate program. This quality is inherent in every service unit provided by health service facilities, medical services, health services, and supporting services,” she added.

Continued with the Head of the NTB Provincial Health Office, dr. H. Lalu Hamzi Fikri, MM, MARS who conveyed about the problem of action errors in the medical field or called medical errors which are of more concern by our health workers and hospital service providers.
“Small things related to medical errors that we do, unknown, unrecorded, unreported This is like an ice-filled phenomenon, of course, what we don’t want from medical error is the impact on patients, such as patients can become disabled, can start mild disabilities, until death,” he concluded.

The speech as well as opening a series of Patient Safety Campaign and Advocacy events held was opened directly by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Mataram University, Prof. Akmaluddin, ST., M.SC(Eng)., Ph. D who represented the Rector of Mataram University. In his speech, he conveyed the commitment of Mataram University as a university as a provider of medical education to always prioritize patient safety in every part and become a shared responsibility.
“Patient safety is not just an agenda, but a commitment that is reflected in every aspect of education and practice required from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram, both students, then also from the installation of partners, lecturers, educators who are certainly fully responsible,” he added.
