Mataram, University of Mataram — Cocoa pod waste, which has often been left unused, is now being viewed by residents of Gol Hamlet, Medana Village, Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency, as a resource that can support agricultural activities. Mataram, University of Mataram – Students from the Community Empowerment Service Program (KKN-PMD) of University of Mataram (Unram), Pare Mas 2 Village team, installed a floating waste barrier (Trash Boom) at the Pare Mas Mangrove Ecotourism Area in Jerowaru District, East Lombok. The initiative aims to reduce waste carried by ocean currents into the mangrove area while protecting the coastal ecosystem. The installation was carried out following field observations that found waste frequently carried by currents and trapped among mangrove roots.
