Mataram, University of Mataram — A total of 1,223 tree seedlings were distributed to support greening efforts in Darek Village, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok Regency, through the “Darek Asri” program initiated by students participating in the Community Empowerment through Village Development (KKN PMD) program at the University of Mataram (Unram).

A total of 200 seedlings were planted at Panji Public Cemetery in Joet Hamlet and Kecial Public Cemetery in Jempong Hamlet. The remaining seedlings were distributed to the subdistrict office, village office, Islamic boarding schools, and local residents to expand the impact of the greening initiative.

Head of the KKN PMD Unram team in Darek Village, I Gede Eka Surya Buana, said the seedlings were obtained from the Dodokan Moyo Sari Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS).

“We received a total of 1,223 tree seedlings from the Dodokan Moyo Sari Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS) Dodokan Moyo Sari. The seedlings consisted of six types: superior avocado, avocado seedlings, candlenut, water apple, cashew, and rambutan,” he said.

Head of the Joet Hamlet Youth Organization, Andi, appreciated the program for its contribution to preserving the village environment.

“We are very grateful for the efforts made by the KKN students. This program is very beneficial for our village, particularly in preserving the environment and creating a greener atmosphere,” he said.

The “Darek Asri” program supports SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through greening efforts and community involvement in environmental conservation.
