The Chairman of the KPK Emphasized the Importance of the Role of Students in the Eradication of Corruption
Mataram, Universitas Mataram – Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Komjen. Pol. (Ret.) Drs. Firli Bahuri, M.Si. gave a public lecture “The Role of Students in the Eradication of Corruption” in the Senate Session Room, Rectorate of Universitas Mataram (Unram) on Thursday (6/10).
The arrival of the KPK Chairman to Unram was warmly welcomed by unram’s leadership. Prof. Dr. Ir. Enny Yuliani, M.Si. as Vice Rector 3 of Unram said that the public lecture will be delivered by the Komjen. Pol. (Ret.) Drs. Firli Bahuri, M.Si. is part of efforts to prevent corruption to be able to create an anti-corruption cultural ecosystem in building the character of the younger generation, including in universities.
“This is an education for all of us to instill basic values to shape the anti-corruption nature of every student. Students as the younger generation have the characteristics of intellectuality, young soul, and idealism. With this character, the role of students as Agents of Change who are able to voice the interests of the people,” said Prof. Enny.
He hopes that by getting to know the anti-corruption movement, all of Unram’s academic community will increasingly open their horizons to play a role in fighting corruption and bringing it into people’s lives.
“To the students, you can voice anything. But mom’s message is that in principle students can take a role in every anti-corruption strategy in polite, virtuous, and responsible ways. The moral movement that needs to be done starts from ourselves and we all start from small things and from now on, don’t delay,” said Vice-Rector 3 Unram.
Also present was the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), Dr. H. Zulkieflimansyah, S.E., M.Sc. welcomed the arrival of the Chairman of the KPK. He hopes that in the future there will be more visits from the Chairman of the KPK to provide motivation and inspiration to the younger generation.
“Hopefully, with the myriad of experiences you have, it can be an inspiration for all students,” said the Governor of NTB Province.
On this occasion, a public lecture from the Chairman of the KPK was guided directly by Prof. Dr. Kurniawan, S.H., M.Hum. as Vice Rector 2 of Unram. Komjen. Pol. (Ret.) Drs. Firli Bahuri, M.Si. said that it was his second arrival in Unram. And the lecture material delivered was related to the participation of students and all the nation’s children in the context of eradicating corruption. The public lecture took place interactively, and the Chairman of the KPK hoped that in the future he would have the opportunity to give another public lecture at Unram.
