Tourism Minister Invited UNRAM students to boost creative Economy

Universitas Mataram – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A. visited the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB Unram) on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the context of launching the FEB Entrepreneurship Learning Center (FEBELC) as well as giving a public lecture on “Young Entrepreneur Development in NTB”.

The activity was held along with the 59th anniversary of FEB Unram. Along with the launch of a 200-student entrepreneur development programme, which is the result of a collaboration between FEB Unram and the NTB Provincial Chamber of Commerce, as well as the NTB Province and Mataram City’s Creative Economy Movement (Gekraf),

Sandiaga’s presence at the Unram campus was accompanied by a traditional Lombok musical instrument, the Gendang Beleq and was warmly welcomed by the Vice Governor of NTB Province, Dr. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalilah and the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.ST., Ph.D., as well as several leaders of the local government and the Unram academic community.

Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.ST., Ph.D. enthusiastically explained that FEB Unram is one of the faculties that is used as a place to produce new entrepreneurs. He really appreciates the work of students who have been able to produce a creative economy.

“Unram’s goal is that students, Unram alumni are really directed to become new entrepreneurs to drive the country’s economy,” he said.

The professor of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unram hopes that Unram’s collaboration with the government can create extraordinary entrepreneurs in the future.

Deputy Governor of NTB Province, Dr. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalilah explained that the unemployment rate in NTB Province, which is 2.89%, occupies the 4th position of the province with the lowest unemployment rate in Indonesia. According to reports, the economy in NTB has been able to survive in the midst of a pandemic due to the support and cooperation of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia through the creative economy.

“So NTB can survive because of the extraordinary cohesion, collaboration, and mutual cooperation from all parties,” said the Deputy Governor of NTB Province.

Furthermore, in the core event, namely a public lecture by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A. invited Unram students to be the driving force in realising an advanced Indonesia. He also strongly supports Unram to make its students as quality young entrepreneurs who are able to create new jobs.

“The key is in the young people,” said Sandiaga Uno.

In particular, Sandiaga Uno asked the students to love local products or works more, such as local music, local films, and so on. That way it can encourage Indonesian business actors to continue to increase, both on a national and even international scale.

“How we open up business opportunities and jobs will determine the future of our economy,” he said.

Finally, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia together with the Deputy Governor of NTB Province, the Rector of Unram, the Head of the NTB Provincial Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of the NTB Provincial GeKraf and Mataram City, along with the Dean of FEB Unram cut the ribbon as a symbol of the inauguration of the FEB Entrepreneurship Learning Cente
