Mataram, the University of Mataram – The celebration of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri at the University of Mataram (Unram) is commemorated by holding Eid al-Adha prayers at the Rectorate of the university on Thursday, 29th June 2023 which coincides with 10th of Dzulhijjah 1444 Hijri. The Rector and the Academic Community also held the Eid al-Adha prayer at the rectorate.

The Head of the Bureau of General Affairs and Finance H, Aman, S.P., MM as the chairman of the organizing committee for the Eid al-Adha 1444 H prayer at the university said that the Eid al-Adha prayer at the University of Mataram following the government’s directives after the Isbat. In this annual agenda, the Imam is Ustadz Abdul Wahab S.Pd.I and TGH Zaenal Huda, LC, M.HI. as the Khatib.

TGH Zaenal conveyed Eid al-Adha as a momentum in increasing the quality of faith and piety to Allah SWT.

“That is by carrying out all the rules and orders of Allah and we distance ourselves from what Allah has forbidden in Islamic religious law,” he said.

TGH Zainal further said that the scholars interpret that Yaumul Eid al-Adha is a momentum for human to return to the light after human have been defeated by their desires, after human have been defeated by the egoism which is often blinds the eyes of their hearts so that they do not know between the good and the bad. Bad and between what is lawful and what is unlawful, even they know a truth but they are blind in their hearts to do good.

“So the momentum of Eid al-Adha is the best moment for human to return to the light after being enveloped in worldly desires,” he said.

Apart from holding Eid al-Adha prayers, the University of Mataram also slaughtered sacrificial animals at Babul Hikmah Mosque of the University. There were 38 sacrificial animals slaughtered, consisting of 22 cows and 16 goats. The meat of the sacrificial animals was distributed to the people around the university and students with low income.
