Mataram, The University of Mataram – The Elementary School Teacher Education study program of the University of Mataram (PGSD Unram) collaborats with SDN 39 of Cakranegara and held a Nutrition and Physical Activity Education Program (PREGI): Increase the Understanding of Healthy Living Behavior through Balanced Nutrition and Physical Activity for Elementary School Children in Mataram City. The activity took place at SDN 39 of Cakranegara on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

The community service activities were carried out by Dr. Prayogi Dwina Angga, S.Or., M.Pd.; Dr. H. Muhammad Makki, M.Pd.; and Gita Prima Putra, S.Pd., M.Pd. and they coordinated the program with Baiq Nurhalimah, S.Pd as the peincipal of school.

Dr. Prayogi explained that PREGI aims to provide learning experiences for students by opening channels of communication, information, and education to improve knowledge, attitudes, and behavior.

“This is intended to students, so that, students are aware and willing to practice clean and healthy living behaviors through balanced nutrition and physical activity. Hopefully that, this program can be a systematic effort to foster elementary school-age children in school institutions through campaign or socialization activities,” explained Dr. Prayogi.

This community service activity was carried out interactively by giving lectures and discussions to students. And the use of media in the form of healthy food pyramids, posters, pamphlets and wall magazines are used as a tool to convey messages about understanding, benefits and examples of balanced nutrition, healthy food and physical activity. All children who participated in this activity also received healthy food such as snacks or biskuit and milk.

“All the children who participated in this activity were very enthusiastic and participated in the series of activities for about 2 hours. The teachers and staff at SDN 39 of Cakranegara were also actively involved and listened until the end of the activity,” said Dr. Prayogi who is the Chief Executive of PREGI.

Baiq Nurhalimah, S.Pd. as the principal of school of SDN 39 Cakranegara also hopes that the cooperation between PGSD Unram Study Program and SDN 39 of Cakranegara will continue to be established.

“We are very grateful to PGSD Unram Study Program and hopefully in the future there will be similar activities that can be carried out. Of course, that is relevant to the problems and needs in our school,” said Nurhalimah.
