The Rector of University of Mataram Monitor and Evaluated the Community Service Program: Visit UMKM Producted by Unram Students

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram) conducted a monev to the exhibition of Community Cervice Program products in  Batukliang Utara on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Setiling Village Office Hall. The visit was also attended by the Chairman and Secretary of Institutde of Reasearch and Community Cervice and the deans of faculties at Unram.

In the exhibition of North Batukliang Community Service Program  products, there were 5 groups of students, namely from Setiling Village, Masmas Village, Lantan Village, Aik Bukaq Village, and Teratak Village. Some of the products on display include Jamu Senamian, Fern Chips, Bongsang Crackers, Bebele Chips, Elong Tune Ground Coffee, Sweet Potato Chips Trachips, Banana Chips, Taro Chips, and many others.

Head of Setiling Village, Lalu Agus Santriaji expressed his gratitude to Unram for several years having Village for Community Servise Program.

“From 2021 there are several of our Women’s Farmer Group which are directly fostered by Unram specifically in the field of UMKM. So thank God there were 3 groups that were fostered yesterday, there were Jamu Senamian, Fern Chips, and Japanese Chips. The results are extraordinary and have been successful, “said Agus.

Kades Setiling also hopes that in the future Unram will continue to provide guidance to the local village through Unram Community Service Program students.

Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. as the Rector of Unram also tasted one by one the products fostered by the students.

“I’ve tried all the products earlier and they taste good, it’s amazing. Congratulations to the all students for successfully making products like this. The efficacy of the local ingredients you use can be used as promotional materials. This can be an attraction for others, “said Prof. Bambang.

Unram Rector explained that the program must be sustainable, where each Progrma can continue the previous Community Service program.

“For example, if the current progrma can only make its products, in the next period of Program, it can be continued with its product marketing program, and so on. It is continued every period until the Community Service program can become a source of income for the local community and grow continuously,” he explained.

The 10th Unram Rector wants the Community Service Program has a positive impact to the community and improve the village economy from the ideas of Unram students. It is a form of success from community service.

In addition, the Head of  Institude of Research and Community Service Unram, Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. previously conducted monev in Narmada District and its surroundings, where there were 12 groups of Community Service Profram students in 12 different villages. Sukartono conveyed a message from the local Kades if they responded positively to the arrival of Unram Community Service Program students.

“One of the kades there said that Unram students had made a lot of progress for their village. Especially in activities related to tourism villages, UMKM, and increasing the added value of products there. So that, the kades there also asked that in their village they would still be given Community Service Program students every period. The students are also very enthusiastic about participating in Community Service Program there,” explained Sukartono.

The Head of Institude of Reaserch and Community Service Unram explained that the monev carried out was part of the SOP in Unram’s activities, how to manage program, quality assurance of the program, and monitoring the progress of the Community Servise Program that had been achieved.

“We hope that the remaining time, students will still use their time as much as possible to complete their activities, both the main program and additional projects. So there are still many things that can be done by students and the community before we withdraw on August 12,” he concluded.
