Mataram, University of Mataram – The Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Mataram (FKIK Unram) received a visit from the National Committee for Competency Tests for Students of the Indonesian Pharmacist Professional Program (PN-UKMPPAI) for the purpose of visiting the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) facility located in the Auditorium Building dr. Yunita Sabrina FKIK Unram on Monday (26/2).

The OSCE facility visitation took place for two days from February 26-27, 2024 and was led by Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. and Dr. apt. Dika Pramita Destiani, M.Farm. as visitors from PN-UKMPPAI. Visitation of OSCE facilities aims to assess the feasibility of implementing the National OSCE Exam. The OSCE exam is a method of assessing the clinical skills of pharmacy students which is carried out comprehensively, objectively, and measurably. PN-UKMPPAI itself is a committee formed by the Association of Pharmaceutical Universities (APTFI) and the Indonesian Collegiate of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KIFI).

Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. as a visitor from PN-UKMPPAI APTFI in his speech said that this visitation was an extraordinary experience.
“This is an extraordinary experience for us because we received an extraordinary welcome from the Rector of Unram. We have conducted visitations several times and at Unram the Rector directly showed extraordinary support from the university to FKIK, especially the Pharmacist Professional Study Program, “said Prof. Satibi.

Prof. Satibi further said that in Lombok there are around 7 undergraduate pharmacy study programs and in Indonesia there are only 67 pharmacist professional programs out of nearly 300 undergraduate study programs. This is an extraordinary imbalance so that one of APTFI’s missions is that undergraduate pharmacy programs in Indonesia immediately open professional programs. Prof. Satibi also expressed the hope that Unram could become a role model and FKIK Unram could provide a good example in the implementation of the pharmacist profession program in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

Rector of Unram Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. in his speech warmly welcomed the arrival of the PN-UKMPPAI APTFI team and said that the competency exams for doctors and pharmacists must be carried out strictly.
“The national exam for pharmacists is very important because medical and health science involves human life so it cannot be wrong, misdiagnosing, or giving the wrong medicine can be fatal. This responsibility is in the hands of doctors and pharmacists so the exam must be very strict in relation to determining graduation,” said Prof. Bambang.

Prof. Bambang further explained Unram’s full commitment in supporting the optimization of OSCE facilities for the FKIK Unram Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program.
“Through this OSCE visitation we can examine in detail so that what is lacking we can complete, what is not available we can provide, what needs to be improved we can improve, and what might be less than perfect we make it perfect, that is our commitment,” said Prof. Bambang.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Bambang said that Unram is open to all input, guidance, and direction as the basis for OSCE facility improvement in the future.
