KKN PMD 2025 Briefing: Unram Launches Impactful KKN Through Synergy of Literacy and Sustainable Local Economy

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of the University of Mataram (Unram) held a debriefing for students participating in the Community Empowerment Real Work Lecture (KKN PMD) for The 2025 even semester period takes place from May 26 to 27, 2025.

This debriefing is the initial stage before the participants are directly placed in the KKN locations which are scattered in various regions of Lombok Island. The implementation of KKN PMD will last for 45 days, from July to August 2025. This activity is part of Unram’s efforts to shape students who are not only academically superior, but also concerned with community development.

On this occasion, Acting. Secretary of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP; Head of Cooperation and KKN Center, Dr. Ir. Misbahuddin, ST., MT. IPU; Secretary of KKN Services, Suprayanti Martia Dewi, SP, M.Si.; Head of LPPM General Subdivision, Roni Paslan, S.Adm.; lecturers and KKN PMD students.

Kicking off this activity, Dr. Misbahuddin reported that the number of KKN PMD participants this year reached 1,781 students who will be distributed to 177 villages in four districts. The details are West Lombok Regency with 375 students in 37 villages, North Lombok Regency with 260 students in 26 villages, East Lombok Regency with 729 students in 73 villages, and Central Lombok Regency with 418 students in 41 villages. This distribution reflects Unram’s commitment to reach all corners and align the service program with the needs of the local community.

This period of KKN PMD carries the grand theme “KKN with Impact: Smart Literacy and Sustainable Local Economy Based on Creative, Blue and Green Economy”.

“This theme reflects Unram’s strategic direction in encouraging sustainable development based on local potential, literacy empowerment, and environmental preservation,” said Dr. Misbahuddin.

Through this theme, students are expected to deliver creative and innovative solutions that have a long-term positive impact on the village community. The distribution of KKN participants is also grouped based on the theme of the activity. In addition, Unram also collaborates with the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia.

“ University of Mataram collaborates with the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia in implementing the KKN Literacy program involving 504 students in 50 groups. This collaboration is focused on improving the literacy culture of rural communities through the provision of reading materials, digital literacy training, and mentoring literacy activities. Through this collaboration, students are expected to become agents of change in building a smart, inclusive and information literate society.”

On the other hand, Acting. Secretary of LPPM, Prof. Muliarta confirmed, “A total of 1,277 students divided into 127 groups will carry out programs based on the results of a survey of community needs at the KKN location. With a total of 213 villages as activity areas, some groups will reach more than one village according to program needs and strategies.”

To support the smooth running of activities in the field, Unram appointed a total of 177 Field Supervisors (DPL) spread throughout the KKN location villages.

“The number of supervisors is adjusted proportionally to the number of villages, 37 supervisors in West Lombok, 26 supervisors in North Lombok, 73 supervisors in East Lombok, and 41 supervisors in Central Lombok. The role of supervisors is crucial in guiding students during the service process and ensuring that all activities run according to plan and academic ethics,” explained Prof. Muliarta.

In order to prepare students to face challenges in the field, Unram’s KKN PMD briefing includes various important materials, such as the preparation of KKN proposals, proposals for cooperation with village partners, tourism village development, and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation (monev) of activities. In addition, students are also equipped with an understanding of ethics and morals in the community, occupational health and safety, and social issues such as the dangers of online gambling and prevention of sexual violence. To support the safety of participants during the implementation of KKN, students are also registered in the accident insurance program.

With the support of various parties and a high spirit of service, KKN PMD Unram in 2025 is expected to significantly contribute to sustainable, creative, and environmentally friendly village development.
