Member VI of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia Shares Insights at Unram

Mataram, University of Mataram — The University of Mataram (Unram) welcomed a visit from Member VI of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI), Drs. H. Fathan Subchi, MAP, CIISA, ChFA, in a Sharing Session held at the Rector’s Meeting Room on Thursday (July 10).

The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., personally welcomed the BPK RI delegation and presented the university’s recent developments, including improvements in accreditation, budget management, and spending efficiency.

“Previously, our budget absorption ranked 25th out of 34 PTN-BLU institutions. Now, we’ve risen to second place nationally, and at one point, our budget efficiency reached Rp12 billion,” said Prof. Bambang.

In his session, Drs. Fathan Subchi emphasized the importance of policy affirmations for universities in Eastern Indonesia, as well as the need to strengthen collaboration between universities and industry.

“We must not view universities in Eastern Indonesia the same way we view those in Jakarta. The complexities and limitations are different, so special affirmations are needed,” he asserted.

He also discussed the direction of education funding policies, budget efficiency, and the challenges of increasing non-tuition revenue.

“Universities are the backbone of human resource development. It’s time for each university to have its own industry, as seen in countries like Korea or Japan,” he added.

This event served as a forum for dialogue between BPK RI and Unram’s academic community to strengthen accountability and financial management in Indonesia’s public universities.
