Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT Socialises Latest Accreditation Policy for Improving Education Quality

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) held a socialisation event on the latest accreditation policy from the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) in the Senate Meeting Room, Unram Rectorate. The event was attended by Prof. Ari Purbayanto, Ph.D., Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT, and Unram Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Ari Purbayanto expressed appreciation and congratulations to Unram for achieving the excellent accreditation status. “Accreditation is a fundamental aspect for universities because without it, universities cannot graduate their students, and graduates from such institutions lack legal recognition,” explained Prof. Ari.

He explained that the industrial world currently applies specific criteria for prospective employees, prioritising those from accredited universities. Unram proudly ranks among the 182 higher education institutions that have achieved excellent accreditation, representing 4% of all higher education institutions in Indonesia. Meanwhile, 742 higher education institutions are still in the process of seeking accreditation.

Prof. Ari outlined that accreditation is assessed based on nine main criteria: Vision, Mission, Objectives, and Strategy; Governance, Management, and Collaboration; Students; Human Resources; Finance, Facilities, and Infrastructure; Education; Research; Community Service; and Outcomes and Achievements of the Tridharma.

“Unram has achieved excellent accreditation, marked by successfully optimised human resources and infrastructure to achieve high national achievements and is ready to be elevated to the international level. This is undoubtedly both a challenge and an opportunity for the Rector and the entire Unram community,” said Prof. Ari with great hope.

Meanwhile, Unram Rector, Prof. Bambang, expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary synergy and cooperation from all Unram staff. This success is not limited to institutional accreditation but is also reflected in the university’s international achievements.

“University of Mataram has achieved the 38th rank in the World’s Best Universities according to WURI (The World University Rankings for Innovation) in the Technology Development and Application category for 2025,” Prof. Bambang proudly revealed.

Remarkable achievements are also evident at the study program level. From previously only three accredited study programs, it has now grown to 32 accredited study programs. Even this year, three study programs have achieved international accreditation, namely Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.

“Let us continue to maintain and enhance our collaboration so that Unram can continue to develop further,” Prof. Bambang urged the entire academic community.

This outreach activity is part of Unram’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the quality of higher education, in line with the university’s commitment to producing competent graduates ready to compete at both national and international levels.
