Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Cooperation Agreement with PT Taspen Life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Rector’s Conference Room, Rectorate Building of Unram.

The signing of the MoU and PKS was carried out by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., together with the Acting Director of Marketing and Operations of PT Taspen Life, Kristiyanto. This collaboration discusses the implementation of an individual life insurance program for state civil apparatus (ASN) within Unram.

In his remarks, the Rector of Unram emphasized that life insurance is an important instrument to be considered not only by civil servants (ASN) but also by the wider community as a form of preparedness in facing unforeseen risks. He noted that his personal experiences have given him a deeper understanding of the importance of ensuring protection for one’s family during difficult times.

“In principle, we need to prepare ourselves for the worst, so that we are also ready to face other possibilities that may arise. For this reason, we warmly welcome the presence of PT Taspen Life, and we hope it will bring significant benefits to all of us, particularly for the state civil apparatus and their families at Unram,” said Prof. Bambang.

Furthermore, the Rector highlighted that as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), PT Taspen Life offers a distinct advantage in terms of credibility and state-backed assurance. This, he noted, can strengthen public confidence in utilizing life insurance products with a greater sense of security and peace of mind.

On the same occasion, Kristiyanto, Acting Director of Marketing and Operations at PT Taspen Life, stated that this collaboration marks an important milestone in providing more comprehensive financial protection for civil servants (ASN) within Unram. He underscored that both personal experiences and those of retirees serve as valuable lessons on the importance of preparing a sound financial plan from an early stage.

“Experience teaches us that financial protection must be considered well in advance. Many retirees face economic hardship due to a lack of proper planning. Through this life insurance program, we aim to provide civil servants with an additional layer of protection not only the state pension benefits, but also coverage that offers peace of mind for their families,” he said.
