Unram Lecturer Represents NTB at ICF Dragon Boat Race ITO Training in Bali

Mataram, Universitas Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) continues to affirm its role as an institution that makes a meaningful impact through the contributions of its faculty in advancing sports at both national and international levels. This was demonstrated by the participation of Dr. Prayogi Dwina Angga, S.Or., M.Pd., a lecturer from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), who represented West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in the International Technical Officer (ITO) Dragon Boat Race (DBR) training organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). The training took place at The Patra Resort & Villas, Bali, from August 27–31, 2025.
The program, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) in collaboration with the Central Board of PODSI (Indonesian Rowing and Canoeing Association), brought together 30 participants from across Indonesia. Its primary aim was to enhance the competencies of dragon boat race referees to meet international standards. Representing NTB, alongside Dr. Prayogi, was Dr. Baiq Satrianingsih, M.Pd., who attended as an official delegate of PODSI NTB.
As both an academic and a sports practitioner, Dr. Prayogi’s participation not only highlighted NTB’s presence in the national arena but also reflected the vital role of university lecturers in bridging academia with community needs and the broader world of sports.
“For me, this training is a valuable opportunity to develop my personal capacity while contributing tangible benefits to NTB. Unram encourages its lecturers not only to focus on classroom activities, but also to take an active role in the field. Through my involvement in the ITO training, I am able to bring back knowledge, experience, and networks that can be further developed to support rowing sports in the region,” said Dr. Prayogi.
He further emphasized that such international experiences align with Unram’s mission to foster impactful lecturers who contribute to society through their respective fields of expertise.
“This is a form of lecturer contribution to building an impactful university. With the knowledge and experience I have gained, I can integrate it into academic activities, research, and community service. Moreover, as NTB will host the 2028 National Sports Week (PON), the readiness of referees with international standards is crucial,” he explained.
The participation of Unram lecturers in this prestigious training demonstrates that universities can play a broader role in advancing regional sports development. Beyond producing excellent graduates, universities also deliver real contributions to society through the expertise of their academic staff.
With two representatives from NTB involved, there is growing optimism that the province will be prepared not only to host PON 2028, but also to establish itself as a center for world-class sports professionals.
