Mataram, University of Mataram — The University of Mataram organized a Public Lecture and Socialization Program as a concrete step to strengthen drone technology literacy and disaster mitigation. The event was held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Senate Conference Room of the Rectorate Building, under the theme “The Use of Drones in Various Fields: Agriculture, Disaster Mitigation, Mapping, Inspection, Surveillance & Patrolling, as well as Photo/Videography.”

The lecture was initiated by the Indonesian Drone Pilot Association (APDI) in collaboration with Unram and PT. Doran Sukses Indonesia. It was attended by the Vice Rector IV of Unram, the Vice Chair of APDI, members of the academic community, and participants from various institutions.

The Head of the Organizing Committee, Fakhrul Irfan Khalil, S.TP., M.Si., explained in his report that the public lecture and socialization program aimed to provide knowledge regarding the use of drones and related aspects. For Unram, he added, the event also sought to open broader opportunities for integrating drone applications into academic practices.

“This public lecture is intended to further promote the activities of the Indonesian Drone Pilot Association, particularly in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Given that Lombok has an international airport with a busy flight schedule, it is essential to have more structured outreach efforts to ensure safer and more responsible drone operations,” Fakhrul emphasized.

Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc.(Eng), Ph.D., Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, officially opened the event with a warm welcome, noting that the use of drones is highly relevant, particularly in supporting activities in agriculture, disaster mitigation, patrolling, as well as photography and videography.

“Unram has several study programs that can benefit from the knowledge shared in this lecture, such as agriculture, aquaculture, and marine sciences. In addition, for disaster mitigation, photography, and videography, there are other study programs that may also require the use of drones. Therefore, it is hoped that Unram can create opportunities to integrate this technology,” he stated.

The public lecture featured both presentations and discussions, with speakers including Robia Nur Hamisena, S.T. (Head of Mitigation and Emergency Response, APDI), Hanifun Nafis and Galang Sinu Susilo (PT. Doran Sukses Indonesia), and Anton Chandra (Vice Chairman of APDI). The topics covered were diverse, ranging from Drone Mapping and Disaster Mitigation, Drone Inspection, Surveillance and Patrolling, Agricultural Drones, Multispectral Applications, to Drone Photography and Videography.

Through this program, it is expected that participants will gain broader insights while fostering a generation of individuals who are skilled and adaptable in embracing the development and application of technology across various aspects of life.
