18 Unram Students Qualify for the 18th MTQMN National Level, Strengthening the Spirit of an Impactful Qur’anic Character

Mataram, University of Mataram – A total of eighteen students from the University of Mataram (Unram) officially qualified for the 18th National Student Qur’an Recitation Competition (MTQMN) and are set to represent Unram in the national competition held at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Banjarmasin, from October 7 to 9, 2025. These top Unram students previously went through a rigorous pre-national selection process before finally being able to compete at the national level.

The Unram contingent will compete in 13 competition categories. They will showcase their best skills in various fields, ranging from Hifzhil Qur’an, Khaththil Qur’an, Fahmil Qur’an, Scientific Writing on the Contents of the Qur’an, Scientific Debate on the Contents of the Qur’an, to Qur’an Computer Application Design.

According to a report by Dr. M. Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si., as the Chair of the 18th MTQMN Committee and Vice Rector III of ULM, this event was attended by 1,506 participants from 194 public and private universities across Indonesia. The report was presented during the Opening Ceremony of the 18th MTQMN held at the Auditorium of Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru, on October 6, 2025.

Previously, the pre-national selection was attended by around 3,000 participants from 350 universities. However, only 194 universities successfully advanced to the national level. This year, participants will compete for 138 trophies from 15 competition categories.

With the theme “MTQMN as a Strengthener of Qur’anic Character for Students with Impact Towards a Golden Indonesia”, this event is expected to be a forum for fostering character, spirituality, and intellectuality among students. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi, S.T., M.Eng., Director General of Higher Education at Kemdiktisaintek, conveyed a message from the Minister of Kemdiktisaintek, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D.

“Make the National Student MTQ not merely a competition, but a field for fostering character, spirituality, and brotherhood for the academic community throughout Indonesia. May every recitation of the holy verses in this land of Banua become a light that illuminates our campuses,” he said.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni at Unram, Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T., was also present at the opening ceremony. He provides full support and best wishes for the Unram delegation to perform at their best and bring the best results for the university.

The Unram delegation has prepared itself properly. Through this 18th MTQMN event, it is hoped that Unram students will not only give their best for the university, but also be able to strengthen their Qur’anic character, which will have a positive impact on their surroundings, in line with the spirit of building a Qur’anic generation towards a Golden Indonesia.
