The 7th PEPADU National Seminar 2025: Fostering Innovation in Leading Island-Based Products to Accelerate Sustainable Development Goals

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Institute for Research and Community Service of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) once again held the 7th PEPADU National Seminar 2025, carrying the theme “Innovation of Leading Island Products to Accelerate the Achievement of SDGs in Indonesia.” The event took place on Thursday (October 16) at Hotel Lombok Raya, Mataram.

The National Seminar on Community Service and Product Exhibition has been a regular scientific event organized by Unram’s Research and Community Service Institute since 2019. This year, the seminar was attended by 490 participants, consisting of online and offline speakers, product exhibition participants, poster participants, and general participants from various universities in Indonesia, such as the University of Borneo Tarakan, Halu Oleo University, Malang State University, Brawijaya University, and Padjadjaran University.

The Head of LPPM Unram, Dr. Andi Chairil Ichsan, S.Hut., M.Si., in his opening remarks expressed appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm and emphasized the importance of collaboration in creating sustainable innovation.

“We hope that the results of this seminar will continue beyond the prototype stage and be developed into a real and competitive business model. This momentum is not only for scientific presentations, but also to support the acceleration of SDG achievement,” he said.

Andi also added that LPPM Unram continues to encourage every lecturer to produce at least one community service activity each year, involving students as part of efforts to strengthen the contribution of higher education institutions to community development.

On the same occasion, Dr. Taufina Taurida Alaydrus, M.Si., as the Head of the Committee, said that this activity reflects the spirit of higher education institutions to actively contribute to national development based on local potential.

“This seminar provides a platform for scientific dissemination and collaboration between academics, researchers, practitioners, and the government in order to develop innovative, sustainable, and globally competitive products based on island resources,” he said.

The seminar featured four speakers with extensive experience in their respective fields, including:

  • Prof. Dr. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., MP., IPU — Hasanuddin University (Makassar), presented on Multidisciplinary Synergy in Strengthening Forestry Businesses Based on Non-Timber Forest Products

  • Prof. Dr. Siti Asmaul Mustaniroh, S.TP., M.P. — Brawijaya University (Malang), presented on Innovation of Local Wisdom-Based Leading Products Through Partnerships and TTG-Proven Technology Transformation to Strengthen the Archipelago Economy

  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Lalu Wiresapta Karyadi, M.Si. — University of Mataram, presented on “Developing Archipelago-Based Innovation Potential to Accelerate SDGs.

  • Dr. Ir. H. Iswandi, M.Si. — Head of the NTB Provincial Development Planning Agency, presented on “Blue Economy: A New Foundation for NTB’s Economic Transformation.

With the grand title of Leading Island Product Innovations that Impact the Acceleration of SDGs in Indonesia, the 7th PEPADU Seminar became a catalyst for the birth of innovations based on superior island potential that are relevant and have a real impact on society. The cross-sector collaboration that has been established is expected to strengthen the role of universities as drivers of transformation towards inclusive and sustainable national development.
