UPA BKPK Unram Presents Professional Practitioners to Prepare Students for the World of Work

Mataram, University of Mataram – In order to prepare students and graduates to face the increasingly competitive challenges of the working world, the Academic Support Unit for Counselling and Career Development (UPA BKPK) at the University of Mataram (Unram) held a Workshop on Preparing for the Working World on Tuesday, 21 October 2025 at the Unram Dome.

This event featured a number of professional practitioners from various leading industries who shared their knowledge and first-hand experiences with the participants. The workshop covered three main topics, namely soft skills development, strategies for job interviews, and personal branding and effective CV writing.

The first session was led by Hendri Viarta, Director of Miss Cimory, who explained the importance of soft skills in today’s workplace. In his presentation, he emphasised that communication skills, teamwork, and a professional attitude are determining factors in career success, especially amid the dynamics of modern industry.

The second session was presented by Aulia Alfarizi, HRD at PT. Fitness Plus Indonesia, who thoroughly discussed tips and tricks for facing the job selection process, especially the interview session. He provided simulations and practical tips on how to answer interview questions appropriately and convincingly.

In the third session, Alif Abang, Supervisor at Infinix, discussed the importance of building a strong personal brand early on and compiling a CV that can attract the attention of recruiters. He said that the first impression presented through application documents greatly affects a person’s chances of proceeding to the next selection stage.

This activity was enthusiastically welcomed by final year students and alumni. Through this workshop, UPA BKPK Unram hopes to improve the readiness and competitiveness of graduates in the national and global job markets.

The Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Sujita S.T., M.T., also explained the importance of every alumnus having soft skills in their career development, as these are essential in addition to the hard skills they have acquired.

“We are committed to continuing to provide guidance services to all students at University of Mataram until they become alumni who are ready to enter the workforce,” said Yoga Dwi Saputra, Head of UPA BKPK Unram.

This workshop is part of UPA BKPK Unram’s regular programme for the career development of students and alumni, and also serves as a tangible contribution by Unram in preparing high-quality human resources.
