Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) held a ceremony to commemorate the 97th Youth Pledge Day on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at the Unram Rectorate courtyard. The ceremony was attended by the entire Unram academic community and was combined with the awarding of the Satyalancana Karya Satya 10, 20, and 30 year honours to 225 Unram Civil Servants (ASN) as a form of appreciation for their dedication and service to the institution and the country.

The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., delivered a speech from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. In his speech, the Minister invited all Indonesian youth to emulate the spirit of the youth of 1928 who dared to take an oath and keep it with sacrifice and strong determination.

“In the past, they fought with sharpened bamboo spears, but now we fight with knowledge, hard work, and honesty. However, the spirit remains the same: Indonesia must stand tall and must not be defeated,” said Prof. Bambang when reading the Minister’s message.

He also emphasised the message that the younger generation should not be afraid to dream big and should not be afraid of failure, because today’s youth are not just a complement to history, but the determinants of the nation’s future history.

The ceremony closed with a call to continue to keep the spirit of the fight alive and to prove that the Indonesian nation is a great, strong, just, and respected nation.
