Unram and University of Kitakyushu Establish Research Collaboration Towards a Low Carbon Society

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) has established an international research collaboration with the University of Kitakyushu, Japan, through the signing of an Agreement on Research Activities between the two institutions on 14-15 October 2025 in Japan.

This collaboration involves two laboratories, namely the Kodama Laboratory, Faculty of Humanies, Department of Social Studies, and the Matsumoto Laboratory, Graduate Programs of Environmental Systems, Graduate School of Environmental Engineering.

The research collaboration carries the theme “Towards a Low Carbon Society to Alter the Welfare of Humankind in Indonesia”. Through this agreement, both universities are committed to strengthening cooperation in research, education, and sustainable environmental development.

The agreement covers three main areas, namely the exchange of lecturers and students, research collaboration, and the exchange of research papers and academic publications.

This cooperation was signed directly by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., with the Head of the Kodama Laboratory, Prof. Yayoi Kodama, and the Head of the Matsumoto Laboratory, Prof. Toru Matsumoto.

This cooperation is an important step for Unram in expanding its international research network, while strengthening its contribution to the global agenda towards a low carbon society.
