Collaboration Between Unram’s Communication Science Studies Program and L-Men Inspires Students to Become Health Communicators

Mataram, University of Mataram — The Communication Science Studies Program at the University of Mataram (Unram) collaborated with L-Men to hold a talk show titled “The Power of Health Influence: Why Everyone Must Be a Health Communicator” on Friday, October 31.
The event featured two inspiring speakers: Yesaya Christian D. Sucipto, S.T., M.Sc., DipSN., MCIM., Brand Manager of L-Men Indonesia, and Rama Sukarta, The New L-Men of The Year 2025, who is also a Communication Science graduate and an experienced young journalist.
Attended by more than 120 Communication Science students, the talk show aimed to raise awareness among young people—particularly communication students—about the importance of their role in effectively delivering health messages to the public.
During his session, Rama Sukarta shared his personal experiences in using social media and journalism as tools to educate the public about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
“Being a health communicator means spreading accurate information, fostering positive motivation, and preventing misleading hoaxes. Whether you’re a journalist, teacher, athlete, influencer, or student—everyone has a role. That’s why we need a sharp mindset and continuous learning to distinguish facts from misinformation,” said Rama.
Meanwhile, Yesaya Christian discussed various health myths and facts and emphasized three pillars of a healthy lifestyle that students can adopt to start their own health journey.
“There are three key pillars to start living healthily: first, meet your nutritional needs with a balanced and varied diet; second, get enough rest—8 to 10 hours per day; and third, do at least 60 minutes of exercise daily,” explained Yesaya.
The event also served as a platform for students to engage directly with professionals and discuss effective communication strategies in health campaigns. Through this collaboration, the Communication Science Studies Program at Unram hopes to encourage students to take an active role in promoting health awareness—both on campus and within the wider community.
