1st Place at the International Level: Unram Communication Science Student Wins Achievement at ICSSTE 2025

Mataram, University of Mataram — A student from the Communication Science Studies Program at the University of Mataram (Unram) has achieved an outstanding international accomplishment. Aisyia Azzahara, together with her interdisciplinary team, won 1st Place in the Technology Category of the Poster Competition at the International Conference on Sustainable Science, Technology and Education (ICSSTE) 2025, organized by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Unram on October 16, 2025, at the Lombok Astoria Hotel, Mataram.
The conference brought together participants from various national and international universities, including Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Negeri Padang, National Defence University (Taiwan), Universiti Putra Malaysia, Monash University (Australia), The University of Tokyo (Japan), and many others. The event featured poster presentations, paper presentations, and an awarding ceremony that highlighted sustainable innovations across disciplines.
In the competition, Aisyia Azzahara and her team presented an innovative project titled “Automatic Pottery Wheel & Electric Spray Gun.” The project was a real-world implementation of their community service program (KKN) in Penujak Village, Central Lombok, designed to help local pottery artisans become more productive, efficient, and competitive in modern markets.
Through the Automatic Pottery Wheel, the pottery-making process becomes twice as fast and more precise compared to traditional manual methods. Meanwhile, the Electric Spray Gun provides smoother and more even coloring results while preserving the authenticity and traditional character of Penujak pottery.
“This innovation represents a collaboration between technology and local culture, ensuring that pottery traditions continue to thrive amid modernization. We are deeply grateful for this recognition. For me, this victory is not just about winning, but about how our simple creation can truly benefit the community,” said Aisyia.
This achievement is expected to inspire young generations—especially Unram students—to continue creating, competing, and developing their potential across various fields of knowledge.
