Mataram, University of Mataram — The University of Mataram (Unram), through its Academic Support Unit for Counseling and Career Development (UPA BKPK), reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the well-being of its academic community by organizing a training program titled “Mental Health for Lecturers: Recharge Your Mind” on Wednesday, 12 November 2025. The activity took place in the Senate Meeting Room of Unram and ran from 08:30 to 16:00 WITA.

Designed as a space for reflection and mental strengthening, the training aimed to support lecturers who navigate daily academic responsibilities—including teaching, research, student supervision, and various institutional demands. Carrying the theme “Recharge Your Mind,” the program encouraged educators to recognize the importance of maintaining personal balance, mental well-being, and effective stress management in order to remain happy and productive in fulfilling their roles.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana, who emphasized that lecturers’ mental health is a crucial foundation for creating a positive academic atmosphere.

“Amidst the workload and dynamics of the educational world, lecturers need space to pause, reflect, and restore their energy. Mental health is not only about managing stress but also about sustaining productivity and personal well-being,” she remarked.

The Head of UPA BKPK Unram, apt. Yoga Dwi Saputra, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci., also expressed appreciation to all participants and highlighted that the training reflects the university’s concern for the quality of life and emotional balance of its lecturers.

He stressed that educators also need attention and support to continue contributing with a calm heart and a clear mind.

“A strong campus begins with healthy educators — physically and mentally,” Yoga stated.

The training featured two inspirational speakers from ECC (ecc.co.id), Unram’s official partner in career development and professional HR training: Nurhadi Irbath, Professional Coach & Trainer, and Ria Aprilia, Psychologist & Personal Coach.

They delivered interactive material on stress and burnout management strategies, building emotional balance, and simple techniques to enhance well-being in the academic routine.

The program focused on four key points:
1. Raising mental health awareness among lecturers
2. Building emotional balance and productivity
3. Providing practical strategies to manage stress and burnout
4. Encouraging a supportive and well-being-oriented campus environment

Participants were also guided through self-reflection activities, breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, and group discussions, allowing them to share experiences and mental-strengthening strategies.

The training received highly positive responses from participants, many of whom felt the session offered a safe space to express emotional challenges often unnoticed amid academic responsibilities. Numerous lecturers shared that the program provided them with renewed energy and valuable insights applicable to both personal and professional life.

Through this initiative, UPA BKPK Unram reinforces its commitment to fostering a healthy, supportive, and empathetic campus environment. The training is expected to serve as an initial step toward providing more programs that promote the mental well-being of the academic community—because happy, healthy educators are key to shaping future generations of excellence.
