Mataram, University of Mataram — The University of Mataram (Unram), through its Academic Support Unit for Counseling and Career Development (UPA BKPK), continues to demonstrate its commitment to preparing young people who are strong in character, competent, and ready to compete in the professional world. On Thursday, 13 November 2025, the program Next Gen Leader: Knowing Yourself, Sharpening Character, Embracing a Bright Career was successfully held in the Senate Meeting Room of Unram from 08:00 to 16:00 WITA.

This training served as an in-depth learning space for students to understand themselves, strengthen their character, and enhance essential leadership soft skills as preparation for a successful future career.

The program featured two professional speakers from ECC (ecc.co.id), Unram’s official partner in career and human resource development: Nurhadi Irbath, Professional Coach & Trainer, and Ria Aprilia, Psychologist & Personal Coach.

With an applied, reflective, and motivational approach, both speakers guided participants to identify their potential, understand their leadership style, and discover personal values that can serve as a compass in their career journey.

The training covered several essential components, including:
• Self-awareness and character building
• Modern-era leadership soft skills
• Career development insights based on personal values
• Interactive discussions and case studies

Participants also received an official certificate, adding value to their academic and professional portfolios.

In his remarks, the Head of UPA BKPK Unram, apt. Yoga Dwi Saputra, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci., emphasized that students are the future leaders who will play a vital role in realizing Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia).

“Young people must possess strong character, integrity, and exceptional soft skills to face the challenges of the future,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T., highlighted that soft skills have become a crucial aspect of career development. He stressed that communication, leadership, and adaptability are highly valued in today’s job market—often even surpassing academic achievements.

The event received enthusiastic participation from students across various faculties. Many expressed that the training gave them new perspectives on self-identity, career interests, and ways to build character aligned with their life goals.

UPA BKPK hopes this training will become an important stepping stone for students to grow into young leaders who are not only intelligent, but also meaningful, ethical, and impactful for society.
