Mataram, University of Mataram — Proud news once again comes from the students of the University of Mataram (Unram) through the Selection of Outstanding Students (PILMAPRES) at the LLDIKTI Region VIII level, held on April 27, 2026, at the Dream of Aventus Hotel, Kuta, Bali. Two of Unram’s finest students achieved remarkable success in their respective categories, bringing honor to the university at the regional stage.

Dewa Ngakan Nyoman Karyana, an undergraduate medical student from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Unram, secured 2nd Place in the Bachelor category with an impressive achievement. Meanwhile, Fikri Ramadhan, a diploma student in Agribusiness of Animal Husbandry from the Faculty of Animal Science (FPt) Unram, earned Third Runner‑Up in the Diploma category. Both students were accompanied and mentored by Dr. dr. Rifana Cholidah, M.Sc., who provided guidance and support throughout the selection process.

In a brief interview, Dewa emphasized that his achievement was not merely an end result, but part of a long learning journey and a reflection of his commitment and consistency in academics as well as personal development.

“For me, PILMAPRES is not only about competition, but about how we grow, create impact, and continuously improve ourselves. This serves as motivation to move further toward the national stage,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Fikri also expressed gratitude and shared his reflections on the journey. “The process was quite challenging, but it was precisely through those challenges that I learned a great deal, both academically and in terms of personal growth. I hope this experience can serve as a first step toward broader contributions,” he remarked.

PILMAPRES is a prestigious event organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdiktisaintek RI), which holistically assesses students based on academic achievements, leadership skills, organizational contributions, and innovative, impactful scientific writing. In the selection process, both Unram students demonstrated competitive performance amid tight competition from various universities across Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

This achievement is not only a source of personal pride but also brings honor to Unram at the regional level. At present, Dewa Ngakan Nyoman Karyana is preparing to continue his journey to the national stage. Preparations include refining documents, strengthening the substance of his scientific work, and enhancing his English proficiency.

For Dewa, this journey is both a process of self‑validation and an opportunity to showcase the quality of Unram students on a broader stage. Every step he takes reflects seriousness and commitment to producing work that is not only academically valuable but also relevant to the needs of society.

This achievement further demonstrates that Unram students are capable of competing and contributing meaningfully. The support and prayers of the entire academic community are expected to accompany the next steps toward success at the national level.
