Mataram, the University of Mataram – 30 students of the University of Mataram  participated in the “Shell NXplorers Pro 2 Days Workshop” which is a series of Shell Eco-Marathon-Asia Pacific and Middle East 2023 events. The activity was conducted for two days from Saturday (8/7) to Sunday (9/7) at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit Paddock.

In the workshop, Shell NXplorers collabores with Shell Eco-Marathon presented Tariq Hussain as The Global Stem Lead Shell to be the speaker. Tariq Hussein in the workshop introduced a system of thinking based problem-solving approach to the workplace and arround it.

The workshop which was held in an interactive and collaborative manner was also attended by 2 staff of the Office of International Affairs  Unram and Vice Dean 3 Engineering Unram, Agustono Setiawan, S.T., M.Sc. In addition, the NXplorers activity was also attended by participants from various campuses in NTB and Java.

“I am very happy to be able to participate in this international workshop organized by Shell NXplorers. The invited speakers were extraordinarily inspiring, not only for students, but for us as educators,” said Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana, Secretary of the offoce of international affairs  who participated in the activity.

According to Dewi, the activities like this can help students to think critically in making decisions in system-based problem solving and it is not only for students, but also can be followed by everyone.

In this international activity, the participants were given the opportunity to learn and apply NXplorers methodology and tools. It is aimed in developing complex solving, systems thinking, scenario planning, and change management skills.

In the opening, Tariq Hussein explained the purpose of carrying out NXplorers activities.

“The purpose of holding Shell NXplorers is so that participants consisting of pentahelix actors (government, academics, business entities, society, and media)to  gain knowledge in solving problems with NXthinking, to add insight, andto  courage in facing future problems,” he explained.

To realize this goal, in addition to holding an international seminar related to a new approach of way of thinking (NXThinking), Shell also held Shell Eco-Marathon, a competition to make vehicles with the best energy efficiency.
