Campus Infrastructure Continues to Improve, Deputy Minister of Public Works Visits Unram Hospital and Reviews Construction Progress

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Diana Kusumastuti, conducted a working visit to Hospital of University of Mataram (RS Unram) on Friday, 25 July 2025. The visit aimed to directly inspect the progress of the hospital’s infrastructure, which has been renovated with funding support from the Ministry of PUPR from the 2024 fiscal year until early 2025.
The Deputy Minister’s presence on the Unram campus was warmly welcomed by university leadership, including the Rector, Hospital Director, Deputy Hospital Director, as well as hospital staff and medical personnel. The visit began with an inspection of the outdoor areas, followed by a tour of the various healthcare facilities within the hospital that have been completed.
During the visit, Mrs. Diana Kusumastuti emphasised that the presence of healthcare infrastructure within a university campus not only supports healthcare services for the surrounding community but also plays a strategic role in supporting education and clinical practice for students, particularly those from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK Unram).
She also delivered an important message urging all parties to continue maintaining and improving the existing facilities. According to her, infrastructure development must be accompanied by collective awareness to maintain and utilise them to the fullest. During the visit, the Deputy Minister also noted several technical aspects that need improvement, including minor details in the building structure and supporting facilities that need to be added.
The Rector of Unram expressed appreciation and gratitude for the Ministry of Public Works attention to the development of Unram Hospital. According to him, this support serves as new momentum for Unram in realising its vision as a campus that not only excels in education and research but also in community service through representative and professional healthcare facilities.
“The presence of the Deputy Minister is a direct form of support from the central government. We at Unram feel greatly assisted and increasingly motivated to provide strong and inclusive academic-based healthcare services,” the Rector stated.
The Director of Unram Hospital also added that the renovation and development process of the hospital is part of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services integrated with the medical education system. The hospital is designed not only as a general healthcare facility but also as a clinical learning and health research platform.
Unram Hospital itself has grown rapidly in recent years, both in terms of facilities and medical services. The renovation carried out in 2024 marks an important milestone in transforming Unram Hospital into a modern, nationally standardised educational hospital.
This visit is part of the Ministry of Public Works regular monitoring and evaluation agenda for infrastructure development. Amid various national strategic developments, the health sector remains a top priority, particularly in supporting the strengthening of basic services and enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions to produce competent medical personnel.
With the completion of this phase of construction, RS Unram is firmly moving towards improving the quality of hospital services and making a broader contribution to the community of NTB and the wider Indonesian region, continuing to deliver the best possible care.
