Demonstrates Support: Unram Holds Public Lecture and MoU Signing with Palestinian Ambassador
Rector of Unram Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D received a visit from Dr. Zuhair S. M. Al Shun as the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia.
The visit was arranged with a public lecture and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which took place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in the Senate Meeting Room of the University of Mataram.
In his remarks, the Rector of Unram expressed his appreciation to Dr. Zuhair S. M. Al Shun as the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia for his visit to the University of Mataram.
“I extend a warm welcome on behalf of the University of Mataram to the Ambassador of Palestine who has taken the time to visit our campus at the University of Mataram. It is a great pleasure and honor for me to stand before you today to show our concern for Palestine,” explained Prof. Bambang in his speech.
Furthermore, Prof. Bambang briefly explained the long-standing good relations between Indonesia and Palestine. Both countries have a rich history, and have been characterized by solidarity, mutual respect, and mutual values.
Prof. Bambang also expressed his excitement at the strengthening of relations between Indonesia and Palestine through educational collaboration. “The signing of the MoU today shows the alignment and concern of Mataram University for Palestine, we agree to prioritize academic excellence and cultural understanding to strengthen the established relationship. We are also very honored to have one international alumni from Palestine and are ready to accept our other brothers,” continued Prof. Bambang.
In line with the statement delivered by Prof. Bambang, Dr. Zuhair S. M. Al Shun, Ambassador of Palestine also expressed his deep gratitude for the welcome given by the University of Mataram.
“I am very happy and grateful to the University of Mataram for the welcome and educational collaboration offered, we feel that this is the support and voice of the University of Mataram to defend the Palestinian people, especially Palestinian youth,” explained Dr. Zuhair.
Dr. Zuhair also expressed his hope for this educational collaboration, he hoped that young Palestinian women who would study at the University of Mataram could exchange issues, and exchange cultures between Indonesia and Palestine.
At the end of his presentation Dr. Zuhair asked for prayers to all students “We Palestinians still need your support and prayers. Do not be silent and continue to raise the rights of the oppressed people of Palestine, once again we thank all the people of Indonesia, especially the University of Mataram who always help and stand by our side, “said Dr. Zuhair closing his speech.
