First Day of PKKMB at Unram: 6.394 of New Students Ready to Enter a New World, Rector Emphasises Four Prohibitions and the Spirit of Unity

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) officially kicked off its Freshman Orientation Program (PKKMB) on Monday, 4 August 2025. Thousands of freshmen from the SNBP, SNBT, and Independent admission tracks attended the opening ceremony held at the Rectorate Field.
PKKMB marks the beginning of new students’ journey to familiarise themselves with campus life, academic culture, and the values upheld by Unram. In his address, Unram Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., welcomed the new students and stressed the importance of building character and upholding ethics throughout their higher education.
“You are no longer students, but university students. The responsibility for learning lies in your hands. Learning is not only from lecturers, but also from peers, the environment, and personal experiences,” he stressed.
The Rector also outlined four strict prohibitions that form the principles of Unram: no tolerance for drugs, sexual violence, bullying, and divisive behaviour. He emphasised that all forms of such violations will be dealt with firmly.
“There is no compromise on drugs, sexual violence, bullying, and anything that could divide national unity. This campus must be a safe and inclusive space for everyone,” he said.
