Five Prospective Candidates for Unram Rector Present Vision, Mission, and Work Programs

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) held an Open Senate Meeting for the Presentation of the Vision, Mission, and Work Programs of Five Prospective Candidates for Rector for the 2026–2030 period. The meeting took place at the Senate Meeting Room on Thursday (December 11). This forum marked an important stage in Unram’s leadership transition process and reflected the university’s commitment to transparency and accountability in decision-making. During the session, each prospective candidate presented their policy directions and development priorities for the next five years.
Prof. Dr. Sukardi, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Prospective Candidate 1) presented a vision of positioning Unram as a globally competitive and impactful university through the strengthening of academics, research, governance, and international collaboration. His main focuses include outcome-based education (OBE) curriculum transformation, sustainability-oriented research, optimization of partnerships, governance digitalization, and faculty human resource development. He emphasized that integrity is the foundation of leadership in realizing a university with strong character and tangible benefits for society.
Prof. Dr. Kurniawan, S.H., M.Hum. (Prospective Candidate 2) put forward the vision of “Sustainable Excellence, Impactful, and Global.” He highlighted the transformation toward PTN-BH status, the strengthening of adaptive education through OBE–MBKM, micro-credentials and LSP, the development of globally competitive human resources, modern governance based on ERP/FMIS, and the expansion of national and international partnerships.
Prof. Muhammad Ali, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D. (Prospective Candidate 3) presented the vision of “Inclusive, Adaptive, and Impactful” to enhance Unram’s global competitiveness. His focus areas include internationalization, digital transformation toward a smart and sustainable campus, and strengthening the university’s social role through partnerships and community empowerment. He reaffirmed his commitment to building an inclusive university that is adaptive to change and delivers real benefits to society.
Prof. Dedy Suhendra, M.Si., Ph.D. (Prospective Candidate 4) proposed the vision of “Excellence with Integrity,” supported by strategic programs in five key areas: improving academic and student quality, strengthening research and community service based on empowerment, human resource development, expanding cooperation, and modernizing infrastructure and information systems. All policy directions are aimed at achieving a Globally Competitive University (GCU).
Prof. Yusron Saadi, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Prospective Candidate 5) emphasized three main priorities: strengthening the learning culture, increasing impact, and expanding global recognition. He acknowledged that Unram has a strong foundation but still needs to enhance international accreditation, funding quality, human resource capacity, and research performance. His proposed programs include opening new study programs aligned with market needs, inclusive education for students from disadvantaged and remote areas (3T), improving faculty competencies and certifications, and strengthening research on strategic issues relevant to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). In terms of funding, he encouraged greater contributions from alumni, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, and government initiatives.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Official Minutes by the Rector of Unram together with all prospective candidates, witnessed by the Chair of the Senate and invited guests. This moment reaffirmed Unram’s commitment to maintaining an objective, inclusive, and forward-looking leadership selection process oriented toward institutional progress.
