Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the University of Mataram (Unram) conducted an accreditation field assessment for the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) Obstetrics and Gynecology. This activity took place at the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Hospital for several days from February 24-27, 2025 and aims to improve the quality of education and ensure program alignment with national standards set by the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).

The assessment was attended by a team of assessors from LAM-PTKes, Unram leadership, faculties, NTB Provincial Hospital, and young doctors. This activity is an important moment in supporting the development of a better health sector in the future.

The Director of the NTB Provincial Hospital, dr. H. Lalu Herman Mahaputra, M.Kes., M.H., said that population growth in NTB is enormous, so health workers are needed in balance with the population. According to him, this assessment has the potential to increase the quantity and quality of health workers in the region.

“ Considering that the need for health workers is still not ideal, competent human resources are needed, especially in the health sector. In 2008 to 2009, finding a doctor was still difficult, but we hope that FKIK Unram graduates can serve in this area,” he said.

Meanwhile, the assessor team led by Prof. Dr. dr. H. Muhammad Yusril, M.Ked., Sp.OG., Subsp.FER, said that they had received various information about the development of FKIK Unram. In addition, a number of assessment documents have been received for further review.

“We have met with the Rector of Unram, and in our opinion, he has a clear vision for the development of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. We have also received various assessment documents that we will review and assess. Hopefully, the Obstetrics and Gynecology study program will grow and be able to compete at the national level. This accreditation is not only an assessment, but also a form of guidance,” he said.

Prof. Dr. dr. Sukman T. Putra, Sp.A(K), in his speech emphasized that this assessment is a complex process. The verified data must match the original documents submitted. He also emphasized that this assessment does not only focus on assessment, but also guidance through an interactive model that will be applied in the future.

“This accreditation assessment is complex because it must reflect the actual conditions. We have studied all the assessment documents, and our main goal is not only to assess, but also to provide input and guidance,” he said.

The momentum of this accreditation assessment is a strategic step in developing and improving the quality of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Study Program at FKIK Unram. The hope is that this activity can produce quality graduates, improve the quality of education, and ensure competent educators in their fields.
