Mataram, University of Mataram — The 16th Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship (KMI) Expo 2025 was officially opened on Thursday (20 November) at the Sidotopo Campus of Tidar University in Magelang. Indonesia’s largest student entrepreneurship event, this year’s expo carries the theme “Local Initiative, National Achievement: Student Entrepreneurship within the Frame of Archipelago Culture” and runs for five days, from 17–21 November 2025. This year, the KMI Expo is being held on an exceptionally large scale, featuring 270 participating universities, including the University of Mataram (Unram), whose student delegation brings forward its most distinguished innovations and is poised to compete at the national level.

At the 2025 KMI Expo, Unram presents four distinguished teams representing a range of entrepreneurial innovation categories. In the Food & Beverage category, the TuChips Team introduces TuChips, an innovation that transforms Jaje Tujak into a product with an extended shelf life. In the Services, Tourism & Trade category, the Adagis Team offers geospatial mapping services through their innovation ADAGIS: Mapping Made Simple. In the Manufacturing & Applied Technology category, the LEACY Team presents Lombok Seaweed Soap, a 2-in-1 facial wash formulated from seaweed and habbatussauda, while the Radiant Sea Team showcases an innovative body lotion derived from Padina sp. seaweed extract to help maintain healthy, moisturized skin.

The Rector of Tidar University, Prof. Dr. Sugiyatno, M.Si., warmly welcomed the participants of the 2025 KMI Expo.
“Welcome to the City of Magelang. I hope all participants will experience joy, discover new inspirations, and nurture aspirations for a brighter future. I extend my sincere gratitude to Belmawa for entrusting Tidar University with hosting the 2025 KMI Expo, and my highest appreciation to the Magelang City Government for its exceptional support in organizing this event,” he stated.

The Mayor of Magelang, Damar Prasetyono, emphasized that the organization of the KMI Expo aligns closely with the city’s development direction as a center of services and commerce.

The official opening of the 2025 KMI Expo was marked by the striking of a gong on the Main Stage of the Sidotopo Campus, greeted with enthusiastic applause from participants representing universities across Indonesia. The atmosphere grew even livelier with the KMI Expo 2025 Parade. Unram’s contingent, dressed in coordinated traditional Sasak attire, joined the procession along a route of approximately two kilometers, passing the Sidotopo Roundabout – RSJ – Ahmad Yani Street – Barito Street – and returning to the South Gate of Tidar University. The parade served not only as a ceremonial highlight but also as a symbol of unity and creativity that characterized this year’s KMI Expo.

The 2025 KMI Expo provides a vibrant space for the growth of creativity and collaboration among Indonesia’s young entrepreneurs. Unram places high expectations on its four delegation teams to perform at their best and bring home outstanding achievements—further strengthening the university’s commitment to nurturing innovative, competitive, and socially impactful students.
