LPPM Unram Boosts Scientific Publication Quality Through ‘Journal Upgrade’ Breakthrough

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Research and Community Service Institute of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) held a journal governance coordination meeting, which took place in the LPPM Main Conference Room on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
This activity was attended by the Head of LPPM, Dr. Andi Chairil Ichsan, S.Hut., M.Si.; Secretary, I Wayan Sudiarta, Ph.D.; and all journal managers in Unram.
LPPM Unram continues to encourage the improvement of the quality and impact of scientific publications through strategic programs in three main areas: journal development, strengthening the conference management system, and managing intellectual property rights (IPR). This effort is part of Unram’s real steps in creating a productive, collaborative, and impactful research ecosystem.
The publication sector received serious attention through the structuring of Unram’s journal system. In the field of journal development, LPPM Unram initiated a workshop on structuring the journal system which includes the governance of sister journals and service mechanisms based on the principles of responsibility, cost and benefit sharing.
Dr. Andi Chairil Ichsan, S.Hut., M.Si in his presentation regarding the strategic direction of LPPM for the period 2025-2029 emphasized that, “Gradually increasing the class of journals through journal training series, is expected to be able to increase the class and quality of journal management at the University of Mataram, starting from non-Sinta journals to Sinta journals, increasing from Sinta 6 to Sinta 3, to international reputable journals such as Scopus and WOS.”
The strengthening of the conference management system is carried out through the organization of independent conferences by LPPM, internal conference collaboration, and cooperation with foreign institutions. The program also includes conference management capacity building training to ensure the implementation of credible and standardized scientific activities.
To support the protection and utilization of research results, LPPM Unram also develops IPR management programs through workshops and training series. This activity includes structuring business processes and IPR services, socialization and assistance for inventors, to strengthening the IPR database. This step is proof of Unram’s commitment in encouraging the downstreaming of research results that have an impact on society and the industrial world.
Equally strategic, the Kubinov, DATIN, and KKN pillars drive the downstreaming of technology-based innovation and service. This program includes strengthening tenants, increasing capacity and market access, and business collaboration. On the other hand, the development of Science Techno Park, revitalization of KKN management, and integration of LPPM data systems strengthen the foundation of research and service digitalization. LPPM Expo, social media monetization, and integrated information system allow Unram to compete nationally and internationally.
With this big vision, LPPM Unram not only prepares a strong and highly competitive research ecosystem, but is also committed to creating meaningful and impactful scientific work and innovations in society.
