PKKMB Unram Mandiri: Prepare New Students to Make Achievements
Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) once again held the opening of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the Mandiri Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year on Sunday (11/8).
PKKMB is specifically designed to help new students admitted through the Mandiri Programme adapt to campus life and begin their academic journey. The programme includes a range of activities, including campus introduction sessions, skills development workshops, insight into Unram’s academic system, facilities, and extracurricular activities that students can participate in.
Unram’s Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T reported that PKKMB activities will take place for 3 days, from 11-13 August 2024. The participants of the PKKMB Mandiri Programme in 2024 consisted of 362 students from Faculty of Economics and Business; 123 students from Faculty of Animal Science; 248 students from Faculty of Agriculture; 267 students from Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences; 97 students from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences; 236 students from Faculty of Engineering; 97 students from Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry; 500 students from Faculty of Teacher Training and Education; and 97 students from Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Unram Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, S.H., M.Agr.St., Ph.D. enthusiastically welcomed the new students in the PKKMB activity.
“Welcome to the best campus in NTB, University of Mataram. You should be proud of my children, related to the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) in 2023 Unram won 3rd place in the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators of PTN BLU throughout Indonesia. Unram was ranked the 19th best state university in Indonesia based on the QS World University Rankings 2025 version and ranked 22nd based on the Time Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024. Therefore, we hope you can be part of Unram’s achievements,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof Bambang also advised new students to be diligent and study hard, have a competitive spirit, and not be afraid to dream.
“My children, now that you have become part of Unram, pursue your achievements, interests and talents to the fullest while at Unram. Diligent and studious, we must maintain and instil a competitive mentality because this can foster enthusiasm and optimism in ourselves so that we can move forward together. Hang your goals as high as the sky and don’t be afraid to dream, I wish you success in becoming a smart next generation,” he said.
The opening ceremony was then filled with the introduction of campus officials guided by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unram, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sitti Hilyana, M.Si., and continued with materials to equip the beginning of campus life for new students.
The first day of PKKMB Mandiri Pathway presented a number of speakers, namely Ahmad Junaidi, MA, Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, M.Si; Prof. Dr. Sukardi, M.Pd; Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T; Prof. Dr. Agil Al Idrus, M.Si; Dr. Ir. Sitti Latifah, M.Sc.F., IPU and Drs. Jakson Siahaan, M.Pd.
The material presented in a row is related to the Higher Education System and International Classes, the Independent Campus Learning Policy (MBKM) and the Achievement of Higher Education KPIs, Administrative and Financial Management in Higher Education, Unram Student Development Patterns, Campus social ethics, General Education Approach in Higher Education Learning and PKM and Entrepreneurship Programmes.
Through PKKMB, new students are expected to start their academic journey with optimal readiness, making the campus experience more productive and enjoyable.
