Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of the University of Mataram (FKIP Unram) once again demonstrated its academic leadership through the innovative programme ‘Professors Teaching at Schools’, which was one of the main events in the celebration of the 44th anniversary of FKIP Unram. Held at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada on Thursday (13/11), this activity featured five FKIP Unram professors who directly taught and interacted with students.

This programme attracted widespread attention because it is rare in educational practice, especially in NTB: professors going directly to schools to share their expertise, academic experience, and inspire students. The professors involved were Prof. Dr. Joni Rokhmat, M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Syafruddin, M.S.; Prof. Dr. Nuriadi, S.S., M.Hum.; Prof. Dr. Imam Bachtiar, M.Sc.; and Prof. Dr. Darmiany, M.Pd.

During the teaching sessions, the professors employed interactive, communicative, and contextual learning approaches, covering topics ranging from literacy, science, and culture to character building. The classroom atmosphere was lively with discussions, questions and answers, and inspiring dialogues that enriched the students’ knowledge.

The Dean of FKIP Unram, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., emphasised that this activity was not merely a Dies Natalis ceremony, but a concrete strategy to bring about a significant educational impact on the community.

“FKIP Unram does not want to be an ivory tower. We want to be present and provide direct benefits to schools. This professor teaching activity is proof of our commitment as an impactful campus that bridges campus knowledge with learning needs in schools,” he said.

The students of SMA Negeri 1 Narmada welcomed this activity with enthusiasm. One of the Year 11 students admitted to having a very memorable learning experience.

“Learning with professors is completely different. Their explanations are easy to understand, there are many interesting examples, and it makes us even more enthusiastic about learning. This is a very valuable experience for us, they should teach us more often,” said one of the students.

Teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada also expressed their high appreciation to FKIP Unram for this initiative. According to them, the Professor Teaching at School activity creates a learning atmosphere that motivates students and broadens the knowledge of educators at the school.

This programme is expected to become a sustainable agenda as a concrete form of synergy between higher education institutions and schools in improving the quality of education. On the occasion of its 44th anniversary, FKIP Unram reaffirmed its commitment as a faculty that is not only academically excellent but also actively brings about positive change in society.
