Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Presents the Benefits of Multilateral Economic Cooperation for Mandalika SEZ at Unram
Mataram, Universitas Mataram – Universitas Mataram (Unram) held a Guest Lecture related to “The Development of Indonesia’s Multilateral Economic Cooperation and its Benefits to the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK)” on Friday (13/10) at the Unram Dome Building. This guest lecture invited Susiwijono, S.E., M.E., as Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Secretary General of the National SEZ Council as the keynote speaker.
There were several other speakers from the Deputy for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs who became the speakers for the event, namely Reza Mahdi Daniswara (Strategic Planning Analyst), Jajang Somantri (Economic Analyst), Bakri Prakarso (Investment, Cooperation and Communication Analyst), and Alfian Hidayat, S.IP., M.A. (Lecturer of International Relations Study Program Unram).
This event was attended by around 300 participants from Unram students (Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, and International Relations Study Program) and academicians interested in international economic cooperation fora, OECD cooperation forums, and SEZ development.
This Guest Lecture was organized to broaden the understanding of academia, students, and other stakeholders about economic diplomacy in multilateral economic fora and its impact on SEZ development. This activity is also a forum for disseminating the accession process to Indonesia’s membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and SEZ activities in general and in particular.
In his speech, the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., PhD, conveyed to the students who attended to continue exploring their insights with the presented topics.
“Mr. Susiwijono is an expert in economics; you can learn much from him. As a young generation, do not stay silent as a spectator. Prepare yourself from now on, what you can do, what contribution you can make to the development of tourism,” he said.
Furthermore, Susiwijono, S.E., M.E., as the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. Secretary General of the National SEZ Council presented his lecture on “The Development of Indonesia’s Multilateral Economic Cooperation and its Benefits to the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ)”. He explained how international economic cooperation is more than just diplomatic meetings.
“These SEZs are proof of success in creating a conducive investment and economic growth environment. Like the Mandalika SEZ in Central Lombok, it is evident how investment in tourism and infrastructure can transform a region into a dynamic centre of economic growth. The benefits of Mandalika SEZ are not only limited to economic growth but also strengthen regional infrastructure,” he explained.
