Supporting Student Readiness, Unram Invites National PKM Secretary in the Socialization of PKM Proposal Preparation

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) shows its commitment in supporting students to participate in prestigious events, through the socialization of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) by presenting Putu Gde Ariastita as the National PKM Secretary as an expert resource person. This socialization was held on Saturday, May 9, 2025 in the Senate Conference Room of the Unram Rectorate.

This activity was attended by PKM reviewer lecturers, field assistant lecturers, and involved PKM student participants who had passed the university level selection. This activity was held as a form of preparation before participating in the next PKM stage at the national level.

“Of course, the students need to prepare well,” said Dwi Suswanto, S.Kom., M.M as Unram’s Head of Academic and Student Affairs Bureau.

Furthermore, Dwi Suswanto, also stated that although there are no significant changes between the implementation of PKM in 2024 and 2025. He emphasized that PKM is a very prestigious event, starting from the systematic stages of proposal preparation, to selection at the national level.

Therefore, attention to detail is essential. According to him, the success of students in passing the national selection and even winning is not only a matter of personal pride, but also contributes to improving the image of Unram in the national level.

“Of course, the difference between 2024 and 2025 is that there are things that have changed, although it is not significant, that PKM is very strict, starting from the process of preparing proposals to passing through to the national level selection. Of course, small things, these details also need to be our concern. This is a prestigious activity, so when you succeed at the national level and win, it will become the branding of the students themselves, Unram is getting better,” he added.

Dwi Suswanto also emphasized that the implementation of this socialization is in line with Unram’s vision as a superior and globally competitive university. He emphasized the importance of optimization in various aspects, including in terms of teaching, and student development. He also expressed his hope for students to bring positive changes, not only for themselves, but also for the institution.

“Unram’s vision is to become a superior and globally competitive university, of course here we optimize all aspects, both in terms of teaching, how students organize their activities. The hope is how to bring the students and the institution to be much better so that they become superior and globally competitive,” he said.

Furthermore, Putu Gde Ariastita as the speaker highlighted the changes in the PKM guidelines in 2025 which had important consequences in the preparation of proposals. He emphasized that students who have participated in the previous socialization need to deeply understand this difference, especially regarding technical adjustments, what must be prepared to the basic things that need to be adjusted.

“Today I conveyed several things related to changes in the guidelines, the students had already participated in the socialization, but what needs an explanation is that due to the changes, the consequences are in the preparation of the proposal and what must be prepared in the proposal. And there are also some basic things that may need to be adjusted,” said Putu Gde Ariastita.

In his presentation, the speaker explained a number of keys to success in preparing a quality PKM proposal and a chance to pass the national selection. He explained that success in PKM is not only determined by the novelty of the idea, but also by a thorough understanding of the suitability of the writing format, administration, suitability of the PKM field to objective, effective and easy-to-understand communication.
