The Rector of Unram Officially Inaugurates 6 Permanent Professors, Encourages Improvement of Research and International Collaborations
Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., officially inaugurated six permanent professors of Unram in a ceremony held at the Unram Senate Conference Room on Tuesday (10/9 ).
The six permanent professors are Prof. Dr. Erwan, M.Si.; Prof. Drs. Kamaludin, M.A., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. Sukardi, M.Pd.; Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Syamsul Hidayat Dilaga, M.S.; Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Jupri, M.Eng.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr.
Prof. Dr. Erwan, M.Si. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Animal Science in the field of Beekeeping with a scientific oration entitled “Increasing the Competitiveness of Regional Superior Products of Stingless Bees Through Beekeeping Technology Innovation in the Context of Branding North Lombok Honey”.
Prof. Drs. Kamaludin, M.A., Ph.D. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in the Field of Linguistics with a scientific oration entitled “Language and Humans in the Perspective of Linguistic Constructionism: from Symbols of Ethnicity to Strategic Capital for the Sustainability of Human Life”.
Prof. Dr. Sukardi, M.Pd. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in the field of Economic Education with a scientific oration entitled “Entrepreneurial University as an Effort to Realize Competitive Graduates: Perspective of Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capability Theory (DC)”.
Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Syamsul Hidayat Dilaga, MS. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Animal Science in the field of Nutrition and Animal Feed with a scientific oration entitled “Redesign of Livestock Development in West Nusa Tenggara Province (Review from Feed Aspects)”.
Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Jupri, M. Eng. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the Field of Environmental Science with a scientific oration entitled “Utilization of Organic Fertilizers Produced from Close House System Chicken Coops as an Effort to Maintain Environmental Hygiene/Health and Increase Farmers’ Income and Soil and Water Conservation”.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture in the field of Soil Science with a scientific oration entitled “Biochar-Based Biomass Management to Improve Soil Quality and Agricultural Productivity in Tropical Drylands”.
In his speech, the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. said that Unram currently has 99 professors who are highly valuable for the progress and development of Unram in the future. “To realize Unram’s four main programs, accreditation towards excellence, achievement of Main Performance Indicators (IKU), towards World Class University, and towards PTN BH it cannot be separated from the role of professors in Unram,” he explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Bambang added that Unram is currently striving to seek recognition for 24 newly proposed professors. “We are currently working for the 24 professors who were submitted yesterday, which hopefully all of them will pass to achieve the title of professor as we expect,” said the Rector of Unram.
On this occasion, the Rector of Unram also challenged the professors to continue to explore science and commit to continue to support innovative research. “ We challenge you, Prof. Erwan, to be able to produce quality honey so that NTB can produce honey whose quality can be the same as honey in New Zealand,” he said.
Responding to the scientific oration delivered by Prof. Sukardi, Prof. Bambang agreed that “Entrepreneur University is the highest level above Research University and Teaching University.” He also hoped that the professors could bring Unram to a more advanced direction by focusing on developing impactful research.
In addition, Prof. Bambang also praised the success of Prof. Dilaga’s research on the use of lamtoro tarramba as a protein-rich feed in Sumbawa Island. “The successful use of lamtoro tarramba as feed not only improves the quality of meat equivalent to imported meat, but also reduces erosion due to corn plantations, even Prof. Dahlannudin has succeeded in producing lamtoro Beef whose meat quality is equal to imported meat,” he explained.
Prof. Bambang also underlined the importance of the pentahelix collaborative approach. Synergy between universities, central and regional governments, business and industry, and the community for the development of the region and nation.
“I congratulate the six inaugurated permanent professors and all the families present in this room. All the knowledge gained so far, Insha Allah, is a blessing, and let us use this knowledge for the improvement of Unram, the development of the people of Indonesia, and for the benefit of humankind,” concluded the Rector of Unram.
The inauguration of the six professors is not only an achievement for Unram, but also a strategic step to strengthen research and innovation capabilities at the national and international levels. With more qualified professors, Unram is optimistic that it can continue contributing to the sustainable development of science and technology.
