Mataram, University of Mataram – On Monday, February 3, 2025, three students of the University of Mataram (Unram) from Palestine, Mohamad Abu Mattar, Diaeddin Mattar, and Islam Ahmed Abu Nima, received educational scholarships from the BSI Scholarship program. This scholarship is given as a form of support for students from Palestine who are currently pursuing their education at Unram.

The scholarship handover ceremony was opened with the recitation of Kalam Ilahi by Islam Ahmed Abu Nima, a Palestinian student from the Faculty of Engineering. The procession took place solemnly, attended by Unram leaders and representatives from BSI Scholarship.

In her speech, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unram, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana, expressed her gratitude for the support given by BSI Scholarship to Unram students, especially students from Palestine.

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity given by BSI Scholarship which has provided access to education to Unram students from Palestine. Hopefully the students can complete their education well and return to build their country,” said Prof. Nana.

Furthermore, she also hopes that BSI Scholarship can continue to contribute in supporting other Unram students who need educational assistance.

“If BSI has even the slightest flexibility to help other students, we are very open to help,” she added.

The three Unram students from Palestine felt extremely happy and grateful to be studying at Unram. They revealed that the conducive academic environment and friendly welcome from the Unram academic community made them feel welcome.

“As a representative of Palestinian students at the University of Mataram, I would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the University of Mataram for the extraordinary hospitality to us as Palestinian students. In addition, we are also very grateful for the academic environment that has been provided, which allows us to achieve success together. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and Bangun Sejahtera Indonesia Maslahat (BSI Maslahat) for their support and for the opportunity given to us to strive and build a better future together, Insha’Allah,” said one of the Palestinian student representatives.

On the other hand, the Director of BSI Maslahat, Muhammad Sobirin, explained that BSI Maslahat is part of Bank Syariah Indonesia which has a special program to support education and community empowerment, especially for those in need.

“BSI Maslahat is a program from Bank Syariah Indonesia that focuses on providing assistance for mustahik (beneficiaries). This program covers three main aspects, including educating the people (through education and scholarships), partnership (through empowerment programs), and sympathy for the people which is charitative, “explained Muhammad Sobirin.

Through the BSI Scholarship program, it is hoped that more students, both from within and overseas, can gain access to better education and contribute to future development. Unram is also committed to continuing to support international students studying at Unram, in order to create an inclusive and globally competitive academic environment.
