Unram and Borneo University Tarakan Forge Synergy to Advance the Tri Dharma and Unlock Maritime Potential

Mataram, University of Mataram – As a strategic step to expand its network and strengthen the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), the University of Mataram (Unram) welcomed a visit from the University of Borneo Tarakan (UBT) on Thursday (9/10) at the Rector’s Conference Room, Unram Rectorate.
The visit was led by the Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Yahya Ahmad Zein, S.H., M.H., together with Dr. Heppi Iromo, S.Pi., M.Si. , Vice Rector for Academic Affairs; Acting Head of the Science and Technology Area UPT Kaujan, S.E., M.M., and accompanying staff.
The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the collaborative initiative between the two universities. On this occasion, he outlined various acceleration programs carried out by Unram, including Acceleration of Excellent Accreditation Achievement, Improvement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU), Transformation towards PTN-BH, and Transformation towards World Class University (WCU).
Prof. Bambang emphasized that the acceleration programs are a form of Unram’s commitment to improving competitiveness and the quality of higher education at the national and international levels and affirmed Unram’s readiness to collaborate in various fields.
“Unram is ready to collaborate in various fields, particularly in the development of marine and seaweed-based resources, which are the region’s leading potential, as well as in building institutional synergy to strengthen the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education),” he said.
The meeting served as a forum for the exchange of information related to the university’s Strategic Plan (Renstra), as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation in the fields of research, community service, and entrepreneurship development. In addition, the two universities also highlighted the potential for developing marine and seaweed-based resources, which are leading sectors in each region.
The Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Yahya Ahmad Zein, S.H., M.H., expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from Unram and his hopes for concrete collaboration in the future.
“We are grateful for the warm welcome, and hope that the results of this visit can be implemented immediately. Especially in the development of marine and seaweed-based resources, as we have great potential in this sector,” he said.
Through this visit, Unram and UBT are committed to building sustainable institutional synergy, strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), and opening up broader opportunities for collaboration in cross-disciplinary research that will contribute to the advancement of science and society.
