Unram Commemorates Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, Rector Urges New Students to Strive for the Golden Generation 2045

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) held ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the field of the Unram Rectorate Building.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the entire academic community of Unram, including university leaders, lecturers, education staff, and the 2025 cohort of new students who had just completed the Introduction to Campus Life Program (PKKMB).
In his remarks, the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., extended a warm welcome and expressed his pride in the new students who successfully entered Unram through three admission pathways: SNBP, SNBT, and the Mandiri Track.
“Regardless of the pathway you entered through, you are among the best of the best. Having completed PKKMB, you are now equipped with the necessary foundation to embark on your academic journey at the university level,” Prof. Bambang remarked.
The Rector also emphasized the importance for new students to understand their responsibilities as members of the academic community upholding integrity, avoiding sexual harassment, drugs, and bullying, while also contributing to national unity and rejecting radical ideologies.
Furthermore, Prof. Bambang reminded the new cohort that Unram students are part of the generation that will lead Indonesia toward the Golden Generation of 2045.
“In 2045, you will be the driving force and leaders of this nation. Therefore, prepare yourselves as best as you can, cultivate your potential, and harness this university as a platform to become the leaders who will shape Indonesia’s Golden Generation,” he emphasized.
On this occasion of Independence Day, the Rector also encouraged all students to honor the nation’s freedom by studying diligently, engaging in organizations, and developing leadership skills. He reminded them that the struggles of the nation’s heroes, who sacrificed with blood and tears, must be carried forward by today’s youth through concrete contributions to the country.
“Cherish and make the fullest use of the independence we enjoy today. The time for sacrifices of blood and tears has passed, what is now required is dedication to learning, perseverance, and preparing yourselves to become distinguished leaders. Unram stands as a university of excellence, and we remain committed to ensuring that every study program attains the highest standards of accreditation,” the Rector concluded.
