Unram Commemorates National Education Day: Realizing Quality Education

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas) on Friday, May 2, 2025. The ceremony, which raised the national theme “Universal Participation to Realize Quality Education for All”, was attended by the Unram academic community.

The speech of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, delivered by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. in the ceremony emphasized the importance of facing global challenges such as climate crisis, digital revolution, economic inequality, digital disruption, and jobs due to artificial intelligence.

“Education is the heart of civilization. It is the space where the mind, character, and future of the nation are shaped,” he said.

Furthermore, the Rector of Unram also conveyed the five strategic focuses of the Ministry, including a focus on results and impact, research and innovation must answer real problems, science or science as an ecological solution, downstream research, and transparent evaluation. Programs such as the 13-year mandatory education, the expansion of KIP scholarships to LPDP, as well as allowances for teachers and lecturers were also emphasized as a tangible form of the government’s alignment with the world of education.

“The transformation of education cannot be postponed. Because education today is the face of Indonesia in the future,” he continued.

The ceremony ended with the Rector’s invitation to the entire Unram academic community to use the commemoration of Hardiknas 2025 as a momentum to strengthen collaboration and innovation on campus. Prof. Bambang also emphasized the importance of the role of universities in preparing the younger generation to build education in Indonesia.
